─────── ⋆ ☾ ⋆ ───────When the cockpit's window was filled with stars, Cassus Fett felt a heavy weight lift from her chest and a grin spread across her face. She was finally out of that ship. She was finally free.
And Tatooine was still in sight.
Although, the relief vanished as another ship came into view, flying straight towards them.
"Woah!" Cassus exclaimed, tightening her grip on the controls and lurching the ship to the right to dodge a shot.
Two more ships followed suite, firing on the loading ship. Cassus sloppily dodged two, but her haphazard steering failed to dodge the other five. Fortunately, the ship had decent shields.
"What are you doing?" Greet called incredulously. The horrible flying must have knocked the girl out of her stupor.
"I don't know," Cassus yelled back, "I am not the one who should be doing this right now!"
She was practically flailing in her seat, gritting her teeth as she jerked the ship into a nosedive. A shot still grazed the ship.
She almost called back to make sure that Greer and Ren were alright. The two thuds and groans that she heard told her enough.
"I thought you were good at this sort of stuff," Greer groaned.
"I'm not the pilot of my team. He is!" Cassus snapped back, flinging an arm back in Ren's general direction.
A hand grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the seat. "Move," Ren said shortly before taking her place.
"Thank you," Cassus muttered, but she stilled lingered. It always amazed her to watch him fly.
He sat back and worked the controls with the ease of someone who had been doing it his whole life. Contrary to his fiery and intense presence on the battlefield, off of the ground he was focused and calm.
Everything—every turn of the wheel, every flip of a switch—came naturally to him. It was something that Cassus could never grasp.
"I think there's a gunner position in the back," Ren said without moving his eyes from the other ships.
Cassus breathed a sigh of relief as she left the cockpit. Despite the large window, the small space was hardly comfortable for her.
Finding the ship's weapons made her feel right at home as her fingers wrapped around the trigger and the targets darted across her field of vision.
Once they were in their respective positions, the pair took down the other ships with ease. Kylo Ren somehow maneuvered the cumbersome ship away from every shot, and Cassus Fett picked off the enemy ships with complete accuracy.
