"I see you've found your room?" I am startled by a voice behind me, turning around, I let out the breathe I didn't know I was holding in, a lady stands before me, my guess is that she's in her early sixty, late fifties, she's gorgeous, with deep creases etched into her worn skin filled with, small grey hairs that intertwine with her ginger locks, eyes that pierce into one's skin, as though they can unravel, even the deepest of secrets, with a single look. She has an air about her, the way she carries herself is reminiscent of that of someone of the upper class, like the Queen, or like my mother. Though this doesn't take away from the motherly, down-to-earth warmth she radiates from her smile, her pearly whites smiling away.
"You must be Anna, I'm Blair," I reach out my hand for a moment out of courtesy, she looks at the hand as though it were that of an extraterrestrial, I contemplate pulling away but before I can come to any conclusion, she grabs the hand and pulls me in for a hug. I awkwardly wrap my hands around over her with my tall frame, I've always had a problem with physical contact, especially one with emotion and genuine warmth behind it, which is exactly what Anna is doing.
"Oh dear, Arthur told me all about you."
I pull away, "Arthur, Arthur Clifford, he knew me?"
"Of course dear, he came to visit you on your birthday every year till your parents- your parents passed. His dying wish was for Mr Wright to find you." I try to search deep in my broken memory for any memory of an uncle ever, but nothing, absolutely nothing.
"Let me tell you more about the Manor," Anna clears her throat manoeuvring the conversation to something more light-hearted, "You have some clothing in your closet, but we obviously didn't entirely know your style, so you and I will do some more shopping in the coming days, the bathroom is stocked with any sanitary items you will require, my room is on the floor below along with the butler, you can ring the bell to get our attention, for sometimes it is difficult to find people in such a large space. The manor has a library, gym, private cinema, indoor and outdoor pool, your late uncles office, two kitchens, and 9 other bedrooms,"
I feel my jaw drop ever so slightly, this cannot be real, but it is. She doesn't even blink an eye before moving on, I guess she's used to this after all, "I assumed that you'd be hungry after such a journey, so I prepared some food, come my dear,"

After brunch, I go to my new room to get changed for the funeral, I am in awe as I walk into my closet, clothing upon clothing, each better quality than I have ever seen, as though each stitch was placed with a purpose, albeit not my style. I choose a simple, modest, black dress, pulling my hair into a neat ponytail, and brushing away the flyaways.
I look at my eyes, I have always thought of them to be dull, dark brown, almost black, I apply some mascara as an attempt of livening them up before meeting Anna by the foyer, a deep sadness in her eyes as I give her a tight smile. Anna takes my arm and guides me to a limousine, I watch the greenery outside as we head down the mountain, pulling up at a crowded church, the second we step out, a concoction of low chatter and crying consumes my ears, as we walk through, many console Anna and I, apologising for our loss while also judging me, I might add, I assume it's because I'm fresh meat.
