"I am bloody freezing." Lily whined at breakfast a week later. Now two weeks into their sixth year they were finally allowed back into their dorms fully. Everyone was in their dorms now. But they had been given permission to forgo uniforms for warmer clothes. Which of course led to Lily wearing an undershirt, a t-shirt, a thick jumper, and her jacket to breakfast. Not to forget the tights, leggings, trousers, and socks she was wearing. Despite all this she was still freezing. And took it upon herself to tell everyone all the time. (Lily is me when it's cold. Biggest mood.)
Bella was on her second bowl of soup at lunch time when Lily walked in. Shivering like a leaf in a hurricane. "How many layers are you wearing?" Bella asked her as she sat down.
"Seven. I put 3 more shirts on." Lily huffed. "And I am still cold."
"You don't think this ice storm could be man made? Do you Lils?" Bella lowered her voice. It was something she had been thinking for a while now. But she had only now voiced it. Lily shook her head.
"No, if it was it would only be here. But it's all over Scotland, and England. They say the tail end of it is in Norway too. It's just worse than Aberdeen because we're in the highlands." She said, taking many pieces of bacon and a huge bowl of soup. "Good thing about this storm. An endless supply of amazing soup."
It was true. The house elves in the kitchen has been making soup everyday to try and keep the students as warm as possible. They also had hot chocolate, tea and coffee available at all times. Some hufflepuff's even thought they might have left the ovens on overnight to try and have some warmth.
It wasn't until half way through lunchtime that Sophia appeared. And to say she wasn't happy would be a vast understatement. She was raging.
"Where is she?" She hissed through gritted teeth.
"Who do you mean?" Lily asked, moving over to make space for her on the bench. Sophia didn't sit down, she more paced angrily.
"Kirsty, she did this."
"Did what?" This time it was Bella who spoke. She began to stand up, and was acutely aware of people turning to look at them. "Sophia what did Kirsty do?"
"I currently have my boyfriend locked in a cupboard because all he wants to do is find Kirsty...." she paused. "The love of his life." Now she did sit. She slumped down onto the bench and began to cry into her hands.
"Love charm." Lily whispered, to only get a whimper and a nod from her friend. "Well I will help you find her. And Bella will go and make an antidote." Bella looked up. Potions had always been her strong suit but after having so much time away she began to falter.
"Will she?" She hissed.
"Yes, she will." Lily fixed her with a glare and Bella rolled her eyes.
"Fine."
"Thanks you guys. I hate her."
"Let's just find her first it may not even be her. Maybe someone else did it and framed her." Lily knew this wasn't true but she was trying her best to placate her friend for a while. Just until they found Kirsty, then she would let her loose.
They found Kirsty sitting with Lucy in the library. The two of them were huddled under blankets reading two different books. Kirsty was ready one called 'Red Queen' and Lucy was reading one called 'The Fault in our Stars." And from the look on her face it was pretty sad.
"What have you done to him?!" Sophia shouted as soon as she saw her. Kirsty looked up with a smirk on her face.
"Ladies please, this is a library." The librarian hissed from her desk. "Please take your shouting elsewhere."
"Happy to." Kirsty rose from the floor with staggering grace and the smirk still plastered on her face. She walked towards the door, gave a gracious smile to the librarian and went into the corridor. Lucy followed suit with Lily and Sophia in tow. Kirsty just kept on walking her head high and the smirk back on her face. She didn't stop until she came to the Slytherin dorms.
"One of you open it." Lucy said.
"Why would we do that?" Lily replies still wondering why they had walked all the way here.
"Because you have a fire and I'm cold." She retorted. Lily was sure she had no idea what was going on. Kirsty opened the door herself and made her way to the common room. "Now will someone please tell me what is going on here?"
"Kirsty gave my boyfriend a love potion!" Sophia almost charged at her but Lily held on firm to her arm. Due to the fact that Kirsty had been there so long you would almost forget that she used to go to Bouxbattons. But not when she stood the way she was that this moment. Back straight and head high, she looked regal. While Sophia looked a ragged mess.
"I did nothing of the sort-"
"Then why is my boyfriend in love with you all of a sudden?"
"If you would kindly let me finish." Kirsty sat on one of the chairs at the chess table in the corner. "I created a love potion, yes I'll admit that. However I did not give it to your boyfriend. You did."
"What?" Lucy began. "What did you do?" From the heat in her eyes you could tell she was angry for the friend. Lily kept a hand on Sophia's arm to stop her from murdering her classmate.
"I leant Sophia my lipgloss the other day. The love potion was in that." She just sat back and smiled. Watching the cogs turning in Sophia's head and look of realisation that crosses her face. "The potion will make whoever kisses you love me. And the only cure is a kiss. But right now he is in limbo. One kiss from me the potion is permanent, one kiss from you he goes back to normal."
"I tried that! I kissed him after he started proclaiming his love for you!" Sophia was for to burst right now and some first years were starting to trickle from their dorms to see what was going on.
"But you still have the potion on your lips. It was wear off in a few days. I honestly thought you were never going to kiss him. The thing is, I might have kissed him before the potion does wear off. Sucks for you, he won't even remember he ever loved you."
"We'll keep him away from you! If you can't get near him you can't kiss him!" Lucy began before Kirsty put a hand up to shush her. Lucy kept talking about how despicable it was but Kirsty just took out her wand and stunned her. Lucy froze like a plank and fell to the floor with a thud. Lily kept her grip on Sophia's arm while Sophia did her best to wriggle free.
"Trust me." Lily whispered. She pulled her wand from her pocket. "Distract her, but stay where you are." She positioned the wand behind Sophia's back while Sophia started talking. Kirsty was loving it, she was revealing in the chance to wind her up even more. So much so that she didn't notice Lily opening a floo message in the fire to the Professor's Lounge. She silenced the fire so the professors couldn't be heard but they could hear what was going on.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I know exactly where my new boyfriend is." Kirsty stunned them both and left them on the floor, grimacing at first years as she walked up the stairs.
Lily could still see but she couldn't move. She just hoped the teachers heard enough to know what was going on.
