I wipe the sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand. I can't get the rhythm of Paint Your Wings right just yet, but I want to be able to have it right by tomorrow; which leads to me now, at 9 pm still playing drums, like I did since we were dismissed from the meeting with Brendon at about one this afternoon.
I only took 3 breaks, two to eat, one to talk to Mike and to get a drink.
It's probably not healthy, but whatever. I need to get this right before the drummer comes tomorrow to teach me everything I need to know about the song.
I sigh, starting the song over once again, this time focusing more on keeping the beat and rhythm the same the entire length of the song.
A knock on my door interrupts me.
"Alex?" Mikes head peaks from behind the door. "Are you coming downstairs? We're rewatching all episodes of Starway we have so far with about everyone. Discussing stuff we could do better, and making sure we're better than our enemies."
"Sure."
I get up from the small chair behind my drums and then jog towards the stairs, attempting to keep up with Mike. He's already halfway down the stairs.
We enter the living room at about the same time.
Me closing the door a little louder than necessary effectively shuts everyone up.
Everyone is our entire band, all the sisters, Niall, Louis and Harry.
I frown when I still don't see Liam.
"Liam and Zayn are out to talk to Simon about the show or something boring. Liam's been there all day and called about an hour ago if someone could come help him out. Zayn offered and suggested we do this." Niall clarifies. "I hope it goes well..." he mutters after, probably not meant for us to hear. We do anyway, all of us do, when I look around the room and see the frowns of others.
I sit down on the huge couch next to Mike and Day.
"So let's start. I know none of you were in the first episode, so I think we can skip that one right?" Harry looks at us for clarification.
"Isn't that Cupids Work band thing in there? They're one of the semi-finalists too." one of the sisters says, I honestly have no idea which one.
"Right Sapphire. We'll watch that and then skip to next episode?" Louis answers. He grabs the remote from the table and starts episode one, then skipping until he sees the four handsome boys.
"Such typical boys. The public eats it up though. How much you wanna bet they had an extremely detailed training for all of this?" Louis grumbles.
Then they start singing, and prove Louis right.
It all sounds just a little too polished, too perfect to not have had any professional help before this.
When they finish the song, you see all judges being positive about it. Liam as well.
"Ooohh Payno. C'mon man, expected better." Louis speaks to the television, having Emely giggle.
Louis grabs the remote, skipping to the next episode. The first artist up is one of our other enemies. They aren't that good, but got though because of sympathy for the lead who broke down during the last episode because of stress. I wouldn't have done that because they aren't actually good, but okay.
They describe themselves as a pop cover band, and the song they choose, One Last Time by Ariana Grande really proves that point. We sit though the entire performance. The instruments sound good, the vocals just, don't.
