The rough and partially tattered bed which had dry, yellow foams poking out of the sides pinched my almost stiff body that morning as I sat up on the bed causing a deep hollow in it.
The dirty, dull blue pillow case only covered a little part of the white pillow that was smeared with different shades of brown cause of use over years.
I yawned in a pretty tired manner cause I didn't have a good night's sleep. It lasted for approximately three hours, the rest of the night was filled with body wrenching pains from the beatings I'd been getting on a pretty regular basis.
My long, brown hair had very tiny droplets of blood splattered around it and they seemed to beautify the dull colour of my hair.As I sat up on my dilapidated bed, I heard the old clock given to me by my granny before she passed away strike, it was 7 O' clock a.m. and I hadn't done any of the house chores.
I stood up from my bed and rushed to the white sink in my little toilet, it was no use trying to get water to rinse my face from the rusty tap. I took two quick steps to my shower and washed my face off while making a cup out of my hand to rinse my mouth off the pastries of last night.
I dashed out of my room and down the long, dark hallway that was never penetrated by the sun's rays to the kitchen to wash the dishes and prepare a simple meal of the meagre food still left at home.
"Jacqueline! Jacqueline!"
I heard my name being called by my aunt, Alina, and I needed no one to tell me that I was in deep shit.
