You tell me it isn't Adam and Steve its Adam and Eve
but you've seem to forgotten it is homosapien not heterosapien
you treat me like a monster or freak of nature
because I am not afraid to walk through the store holding my lover's hand
because when you think of love, you think of what is in their pants
but when I think of love
i think of the warmth of their hand in mine
our heartbeat coordinating when we hug
our breathing slowing to match each others
i think of everything that you do not
love is not a choice, it is not something you control and not something you pick
Love is not a phase or a coming of age
Love is the feeling of safety when you look into someone's eyes
It is the longing to be near when you cannot
We will march through the streets every June
until the brutality stops
until the slurs dwindle
until we can be accepted for what we are and who we love
you say our love is a sin
but if god was not supportive
she would not have made the rainbow
she would not have let us been birthed how we are
so if you ask me
she is a pretty good ally
