start song— loser by jagwar twin
koles skirt rippled through the wind she had created as she skated down the sidewalk. the early spring sun beaming down on her. school started ten minutes ago, but she was in no rush. she took her time as the board glazed the black asphalt.
as she arrived at the front doors of the high school, kole hopped off the board. she stomped on the end of it to make it jump into the air; catching it and placing it under her arm.
skate boards werent aloud on the campus of derry high. another rule kole chose to ignore. rule breaking was a way she could feel again. she had been drown in her own numbness for too long.
before reaching for the handle of the door, kole pondered the thought if going to her classes today was even worth it. with a shrug of her shoulders, the girl retracted from the double doors. she started the short walk to the weeping willow.
the grass was damp from morning dew, leaving a wet haze on her ankles. as kole set her bag and board down, she heard voices coming from the tree.
"my mom would have an aneurysm if she found out i skipped classes today!" a hushed voice whined out from the branches.
"which is why no one is going to tell her eds. calm down would ya?" a different voice joked.
"guys, who's that?" a more feminine voice asked, which let kole know that her presents was noticed.
"kole?"
the girl finally looked up to the branches to see who was causing all of the noise. eddie sat on a lower branch, across from a curly headed boy with glasses. on the next branch that was a little bit higher, was a red headed girl and a tall looking boy. spread out through the higher branches were three other boys.
kole stepped over her bag and reached up to grasp a low hanging branch. pulling herself up with ease.
"im kole," she smiled, and found a branch next to eddies to sit on. she straighten out her skirt.
" hubba hubba," the boy with glasses commented, winking at her. kole rolled her eyes. eddie wanted to kick richie for his crude greeting, but his tongue only spoke smart remarks around richie. koles presence silenced the boy's lips. though his mind was too loud for his liking.
"no," she warned, making the boy retreat slightly.
"why aren't you in class?" eddie asked the girl, as he gazed over her appearance in awe. she wore her confidence as a jacket, but when things would become heated, it would slip off. eddie didn't know that. he just knew that the girl sitting next to him was everything but reserved.
"i could ask you the same thing," kole snickered, swinging her legs from the branch. she watched as the boy fidgeted with the sleeve of his white sweater, then he shrugged his shoulders.
"they made me," eddie huffed, gesturing at the other six people. they all innocently smiled at the girl. "kole, meet the losers club."
