People shoved by in a hurry, making a frown grow on Victoria's face, her eyes scanned the platforms looking for any sign of her platform. She pushed along her cart, her owl Midnight sat in his cage, she had grown quite fond of him since she got him.

Even though Victoria had Midnight, and there was all those people around her. She had never felt more alone, her father refused to go to drop her off at the train station, and he has not said a single word to her since she got her letter.

And her mother barely spoke to her anymore too, and when she did it was just small things. It was hard on Victoria, hard enough that for the last few days she would cry herself to sleep, while Midnight watched her soundlessly.

"Where is the train that leaves at eleven o'clock?" a familiar voice asked, Victoria looked around, but she couldn't see where the voice was coming from. It could've been her mind playing tricks on her, but she was sure she heard it.

Victoria jumped back when Midnight let out a loud screech, she got angry looks from passing by people, making her face flush red  "Midnight, what has gotten into you?" She asked, her face still bright red, he was normally a quiet owl.

While looking down as the looks continued, Victoria went to continue walking, but was stopped by the familiar voice "Victoria?" Harry asked, in almost a hopeful sounding voice,  was he ever so glad to see her there.

Victoria's face lit up with a smile "Harry, they let you come here!" she exclaimed happily "I'm guessing you wouldn't happen to know where platform Nine and three-quarters is, do you?" she asked, her excitement fading a little bit.

"Unfortunately, I don't." admitted Harry, they both were quite worried, they both had no idea how to get to the platform, Hagrid had forgotten to tell them how. And they only have ten minutes to get on the train, or else they were stuck here.

Both Harry and Victoria glanced around the station for any signs of platform Nine and three-quarters, but there was none. Just as Victoria went to suggest something, a group of people with fiery red hair passed by "packed with Muggles, of course" one of them said, making Harry and Victoria exchange glances.

Harry was the first to push his cart after them, and Victoria followed not to fair behind him, when they stopped Victoria could've sworn she saw a older boy walk towards the barrier, but once people cleared.  He was gone, cart and all.

Victoria watched and listened as another boy joked with his mother about being someone else, obviously a twin, and her hand fell over her mouth as he walked towards the barrier, but then seemed to vanished in thin air. Then the third boy did the same as well "Excuse us." Harry spoke up to the woman.

“Hello, dears." said the woman “First time at Hogwarts?" she asked, Victoria felt some relief wash over her, they had actually found someone who knew about Hogwarts "It's  Ron's first time to  Hogwarts as well." she added, pointing at the youngest of the boys.

"Yes, it is" answered Harry "But the thing is"  he began again, struggling to form the correct words "The thing is" he said again, still struggling for the words he was looking for "We don't know how to" said Harry, before the kind lady cut him short.

"How to get on the platform?" she asked, Harry nodded "All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Don’t stop and don’t be scared you’ll crash into it, that’s very important. Best do it at a bit of a run if you’re nervous." she explained "Go on, you two before  Ron." she added.

Harry looked at Victoria, wanting her to go first, Victoria gripped the cart, she had to try. Victoria took  a deep breath and held it, she ran towards the barrier, people shoving past her in the process, as she got closer to the barrier, she started getting more nervous, what if didn't really work it was just a lady trying to get some laughs?

But she didn't hit the barrier, Victoria ran through it, like the lady had said. On the other side was a scarlet steam engine, as she slowed her pace, Harry followed not to much further behind. But Victoria didn't speak, the scene around seemed too good to be true.

She was actually going to Hogwarts, she was actually going to get on the train, she was going to a school that wasn't for ordinary people like she thought she was. It was like a whole new life, now that she thought of it, and her old was she was leaving behind.

Victoria followed alongside Harry, her eyes still sparkling with excitement, once her and Harry found a empty compartment near the end of the train, they first  put their owls in there. But when it came to their trunks, it was a struggle, they managed to get Victoria's trunk up with a little help from a passer by, who left after that.

But they couldn't lift, Harry's trunk, it even landed on Harry's foot twice.  Just when it began to seem hopeless to Victoria, a red-headed boy walked over and spoke "Need a hand?" he asked, Victoria realized, it was one of the boys, who she assumed was a twin they saw not to long ago.

"Yes, please" Harry answered, with a bit of relief forming on his face, Victoria had to admit she was glad that they were offered help, they would've never gotten it themselves. The boy called over his brother for help, and finally were able to move the trunk.

Once Harry's trunk was tucked away, Victoria sat down by the window, staring out it, watching the people "Harry Potter." she heard the twins say, for a brief moment, Victoria wondered how they knew his name. Then she remembered, he was supposed the be famous in the wizarding world.

“Oh, him.” said Harry  “I mean, yes, I am." he added, then they all fell silent, Victoria. Who wasn't even paying all that much attention could feel how uncomfortable it was, and she could only assume that Harry was even less comfortable.

Once Victoria was sure that the twins had left, since their mother had called for them, Victoria spoke "Is it weird?" she asked, not looking over at Harry "To have people know your name like that? and to recognize you even though you have never met them before?" she added.

"Yeah." replied Harry, then went silent again. Victoria kept staring out the window, feeling a bit jealous of the other families, the kids who were able to have their families with them when they went off, or parents who would want to see them off.

Her and Harry, they had none of that, Harry's parents were killed when he was a baby. Victoria's father practically disowned her, and her mother was taking his side on all of this.  Even though because of that, Victoria knew that Harry had it much worse.

Victoria looked away from the window at last, trying to shake the thoughts out, it wouldn't matter before too long. They both would be far enough away from home, and maybe they both would make new friends, maybe they would actually belong.
