Victoria stepped off the train, her long black robe fluttered behind her, she had put them on not to long ago. She looked around, her stomach twisted with a mixture of excitement and nervousness, and because of this it made her feel nauseous.

“C’mon, follow me, any more firs’ years? Mind yer step, now!Firs’ years follow me!” Hagrid hollered, Victoria hurried to group up, Hagrid lead them down a dark, narrow path, that was steep. Many slipped or stumbled, but from spending so much time outside, this felt natural to Victoria.

The sides of the narrow path were darker than the rest of the path, It made Victoria curious what laid behind the darkness, what mysteries it held. She was sure she would feel that way all year, but she couldn't wait to feel it.

“Yeh’ll get yer firs’ sight o’ Hogwarts in a sec, jus’ round this bend here.” announced Hagrid, when the narrow path opened up to the edge of a great black lake, Victoria let a gasp of a amazement out.

On the other side of the vast lake, perched on top of a tall mountain, was a castle with many towers and many turrets. Victoria couldn't put in words on how beautiful the castle looked, for a few moments, it left her speechless even.

"No more’n four to a boat!” Hagrid informed, bringing some of the students back to reality, Victoria's eyes fell on small boats near the edge of the water. She got into a boat steadily, nerves took over the excitement she had once felt, she had never been in a boat before.

Once the boat ride was over, and they reached what seemed to be an underground harbor, Victoria slowly got out of her boat. Admiring the stuff around her, she was sure she wouldn't see this area again, so she wanted to take in as much as possible.

Victoria followed behind as Hagrid lead them through a passage way, she was curious as to why they were separated from the rest of the students, did this happen to all first years?

Finally, they walked up a flight of stone stairs that lead up to a large oak door where they all crowded around, Hagrid knocked three times on the oak door that then opened. A tall witch stood there, she wore emerald-green robes and a stern look on her face.

“The firs’ years, Professor McGonagall,”  informed Hagrid, Victoria stayed silent, she had a good feeling that this was a person that crossing would be a bad idea, “Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here."

The doors were pulled wide, revealing a massive entrance hall, the stone walls had flickering torches on them that lit up the walls. The ceiling however, was too high to see clearly, and there was a marble staircase leading to upper floors. This was easily the most magnificent place Victoria has ever seen.

Faint voices could be heard as Professor McGonagall lead them across the stoned floor to a small empty chamber, they all crowded in close together, some closer than desired “Welcome to Hogwarts,” said Professor McGonagall,  making more excitement bubble up inside Victoria “The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your Houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your House will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your House, sleep in your House dormitory, and spend free time in your House common room.

“The four Houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each House has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your House points, while any rulebreaking will lose House points. At the end of the year, the House with the most points is awarded the House cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever House becomes yours
