• chapter forty-seven | Act
"Why the fuck are ya calling bright and early?" The Joker grunted as he stood still inside his office.
He had thrown on his Arkham sweatpants, and left his upper body bare. His bright green hair messy, a hint of the morning that he slept soundly last night, due to him shifting back and forth with Harley on his arms.
"Because we gotta move, clowny." The voice on the other line of the call spoke, his high-pitch voice ringing on The Joker's ears. "Batman will eventually come and find out about our partnership."
Joker then laughed at his statement, his signature laugh echoing through the room, "Why so scared of little Batsy?" He questioned, wiping the tear forming on his eyes with his finger, this was too funny for him to hear. The Creeper? Scared of the Bat? What a fucking coward.
"I'm not scared, who said I was, clown?"
"In denial." J replied with a smirk, he never thought that the reason why The Creeper partnered up with his is because he was totally a wuss when it comes to Batman. He laughed out once again, before he started cackling.
"Stop fucking laughing or else I'll make my men snipe your girlfriend's brain out." His simple threat made The Joker frozen, his heartbeat stopping and his hearing got blurry, his words ringing against his ear. His blue orbs wide open in shock and his jaw clenched together. Where the fuck is he?
"Harley..." He mumbled under his own breathe, not enough for Creeper to hear from the other side of the line, "Where the fuck are ya, shithead?" Joker grumbled in anger, his hand forming a fist.
"Now who's the pussy now, J?" Creeper laughed out, annoying Joker due to his unforgivable action and laughter, he will shred Creeper to pieces if he does lay a single finger on Harley. "Never thought you'll kneel down for a girl."
"I don't fucking care about her."
It slipped from his own tongue, he didn't mean what he said, he needs to act tough, to act like The Joker. He couldn't show anyone that he can be weak for Harley. People like Creeper will take advantage of his weakness, his sweetspot, his Queen, his Harlequin.
"Oh, do you?" Creeper chuckled, debating whether to believe that J doesn't care for his girl, well, he is The Joker. But on the other side, the way he reacted said otherwise. "So, you don't mind me taking her for my pleasure, yeah?"
"I don't mind at all." Regret.
"Oh! You really are The Joker!" Creeper laughed out from the other line. Joker's heart stopped beating when he heard Creeper call out one of his men, soon demanding what he wouldn't want to hear from anyone, "Take Harley Quinn for me, would you?"
And with that, J hung up the phone and rushed back to the bedroom where he hoped that Harley is still there. His mind not thinking straight when he walked through the halls of the house— mansion.
Many things flew into his mind, Where the fuck is Harley? Is she okay? She isn't hurt? It's my fault not taking an eye at her. Now, she is at risk even if she doesn't know it. Because of me. Since he is The Clown Prince of Crime, he wouldn't dare admitting that it was his fault, normally he would blame it on Harley or someone else. But, not like now.
His heartbeat stopped once he saw the King sized bed empty, ruffled covers and comforter only laid there on the mattress, "Harley!" Joker called out, almost panicking.
"In the bathroom, Pud!" Harley replied from the bedroom bathroom, she flinched in shock when J suddenly yelled out her name. She was just taking her time in the tub, and she wondered why was he even looking for her.
Joker sighed in relief, his chest softening before he started walking towards the bathroom, opening the door since he knew Harley doesn't really lock the door, she wouldn't mind him walking right in the middle of her bath. "Thank god..." Joker sighed out as he saw Harley inside the tub filled with water and covered with bubbles all over.
"Somethin' the matta?" Harley's accent never left, her big, bright blue eyes looking up to his icy, piercing ones, eyes that had hidden his emotion, but right now, she saw fear and sadness. What is he thinking about?
Joker shook his head and walked over to the tub, sitting down at the edge and looked at his jester, "Nothing, nothing." He smiled, before he then looked down to his hands that clutched together, raging because of Creeper. "I just got worried." He replied before he looked back up to Harley. He stood back up and went to the sink, splashing the cold water against his face and looked at the mirror.
"Are ya sure, Mistah J?" Harley asked, sitting up properly from the tub and looked at her man by the sink. She could already tell he's having a minor crisis, but she knew him too well that he wouldn't tell her anyway.
J then turned back to her and grunted, making Harley shiver and regret that she asked again. "I said it's nothing, Harls." He stated before letting out a sigh and wipe his face with the blue towel beside him, "I'll be in my office." He stated, now making his way out of the bathroom.
"Don't ya wanna join me..?" She asked, frowning as she watched him step out of the bathroom. He didn't even bother to look back at her or even answer. Harley sighed in disappointment, she really look up to having him join in her, since it has been a while ever since they had their alone time together. "Guess it won't happen anytime soon." She muffled, laying back on the tub with a small frown.
