"Do I have to today?" I groaned, frowning at the maid.

"Yes sweetie, you still have to go. Come on, I looked at your grades from your old school and they're great, A's and B's. You're a smart girl and you only have one year left. You can make it through." She said, sitting my breakfast in front of me.

"But I have to wear a stupid uniform." I pulled on the red skirt that stopped an inch above my knees.

Yesterday, Nick went to the nearest school which was Los Angeles Academy, a private school where all the snotty rich kids go, and enrolled me. I claimed I didn't need to go to a school like that but apparently, that's the one that Mr. Brown said I should go to. I guess his input matters since he's the one paying my tuition to go there. The uniform consisted of a white shirt, red tie and a red skirt, I looked like an idiot. I really didn't want to go but the maid insisted I did and even though it was walking distance, Nick was going to drive me there. I hated going to new schools, I was always bullied by someone. No one ever left me alone and it bugged me.

Rose rushed me to finish my food and as soon as I did, she stole my plate to wash it and gave me my school bag with my supplies in it. I was bummed to be going to school but couldn't do anything about it so I sucked it up and endured it. Nick came in and told me it was time to go so I grabbed my jacket and bag before following him outside to a black escalade. A chauffeur was standing there and he opened the back door for me and Nick. I wondered why Nick didn't just drive himself but didn't question it. He did talk the whole way.

"Don't be scared, I put your schedule in the front and just ask for help when you get lost. I'm sure you'll be fine." He encourages me.

"Esta no es la escuela, su prisión." I grumbled.

"What?" He widened his eyes at me.

"Nothing." I said sharply.

"I didn't know you spoke Spanish." He said.

"My mother was Mexican, what did you expect?"

"I didn't know that, I only knew your father was partially Italian. You know, Mr. Brown speaks Spanish too." Well that was a fact I didn't know.

"Oh really? Fascinating." I was so annoyed with school and I hadn't even spent a day there yet.

When we pulled up, some kids on campus stared as the chauffeur got out the car and opened the door for me. Nick stepped out first, and then me, he was going to walk me inside for the first day. The kids looked so rich and preppy, I wanted to gag at the sight of them. I had stares directed towards me the whole time Nick and I headed to the entrance, I wish they would have stopped. I hated being stared at, it bugged me. I was just new that's all, these kids had no sense whatsoever.

Nick took me to the office and the lady at the front desk directed us to my grade counselor that was suppose to help me on my first day. We walked into another office and an older white lady was sitting at her desk, looked like she was in her 50's maybe.

"Hello." Nick spoke. Her head lifted and she had a great big smile on her face.

"Hello there!" Ugh, she was just like the damn maid. "I'm your counselor, Mrs. Houston and I am so glad that you are here! I will tell you all about this school and help you out when you need me."

"Okay." My voice came out smaller than I had meant it to.

"She's a little nervous, but she'll come around." Nick says. His beeper went off and he took it off his hip.

"And that's Mr. Brown, I gotta get going." He said. "Have a good day, I'll pick you up after school." He kissed my hair and hurried out, leaving me all alone with the maid's twin. I just wished she wiped that smile off her face.
