I know Morgan is not going to be a happy camper this evening. I talked to both Helen and Jessica about the appointment at the office and how it went. Their advice to me about how to deal with Morgan is split. Jessica told me "You need to talk to her. Let her know the guy is a jerk. Not like she needs his business. You need to kick her ass."
Helen went the other way. "Leave her be. Morgan is strong and bloody smarter than any of us, and she'll figure this out. She doesn't need you getting in her face. Up her ass, in Jessica's example."
I think they are both right.
The tying vote came with a phone call from Angel. "Adrian? Do you know where Morgan is? I tried to call her but she didn't answer. Not like her. Not at all. She usually answers on the second ring."
I paused to phrase the answer. "Yes. I approximately know where she is." I went with.
"I know she is unhappy about the appointment." Angel was at the office when it all went down. She is in the loop. "I get it. Can you find her and kick her ass for me? I need her to get over that now. Right now. She has a new client. Me."
"Say..what?" I asked, confused by that twist.
"I need her help. Nakoma and I are on the way over. Is it OK if we stay with you guys for a couple of days?"
"Angel, you are family. You never have to ask that. That's like asking me if you can borrow your own car. I'll get the big upstairs bedroom ready for you, and one of the others for Nakoma. When will you be here?"
"Packing now." Angel paused. "Uhm: Just to be clear, you intend to put me in the big bedroom that used to be Helen's?. Then it was Morgan's?" Angel sort of asked. Well. More stated.
"Sure?" I agreed, not sure why that needed clarification. Angel spent a lot of time here, after I was raped, taking care of me, along with Jessica, Helen, Morgan, and Rachel. Doctor Jessica insisted I never be alone at night after that. Angel was always willing to take a shift.
"Don't you marry every woman that stays in that room for any period of time?" She asked, and I could not tell if she is joking.
"Two out of three. Rachel lived in there with Helen for a while. We have never married. She doesn't seem to be the marrying type." I pointed out reasonably.
"When Rachel is in town, doesn't she sleep with you all? Maybe not married, but in a big pile in the bed anyway?" Angel clarified.
"Rachel and Helen are a thing, sure. Always have been. Rachel is not my wife though, and that is your question. She and I have never, and I do mean never, done anything with each other other than sleep in the same bed. You and I already went that far when you were fixing my soul up. In point of fact, you and I have been farther than that: you held me naked, in your arms all night. Kissed my face. Healed me."
"I was not aware that horndogs have souls. So you are saying if I sleep in that room, we are under no circumstances getting married?" Angel asked.
"Oh, hell no! I am not saying that at all. You want in, I am sure the others would agree. We all love you to pieces. I just did not think you were into that kind of... arrangement." I still could not tell if Angel is jacking with me or what.
Angel laughed. "Yeah. Like Morgan was? Look at her now!"
"That's Morgan. You are you. Different lady. So: I will fix you up in another bedroom if you like. Marvin and Skye live up the road in one of the houses Helen bought when she was opening up the land around us, so there is plenty of space in the house. I would not want you worried about anything like one of us old married folks sneaking into your bed and boffing you senseless. Helen might, you know."
