Nakoma's Wheels

Jessica and Morgan have been working on finding the right car for Nakoma and thought they have one picked out.

Angel, Nakoma, and I came out for the big reveal.

In the bright lights of the garage, an SUV / station wagon shape was under a car cover.

"Ready?" Jessica asked?

"I can't believe you guys are making me wait to see this... Torture much?" Nakoma complained, waving upwards to show the cover needed to be off.

Morgan and Jessica ripped the cover up and away in a smooth motion. Like they had practiced that.

"Oh. It's pretty!" Nakoma said. "I like that blue! Kind of like Dad's eyes."

'Dad' is coming very naturally these days. I love it.

Jessica waved at the car. "This is a real find. Perfect even. Got it for next to nothing at auction. Took a chance and went ahead and bought it. If you don't like it, we can keep looking."

Nakoma was walking around it "It looks amazing! Like it's new." She opened the door, and exclaimed excitedly "Leather seats? Wow! Is that wood on the steering wheel?"

I saw Jessica and Morgan exchange a satisfied glance. Angel came over to them, and gestured accusingly at the car "Hey! I thought this was going to be a fixer-upper! That car is nicer than mine!"

"Angel, it is the very best kind of fixer-upper, as far as I am concerned." Morgan assured her "The motor is shot. No way it passes inspection with anything short of a block out rebuild. No idea what the tranny is like yet, because it barely runs. The radio is blown, or the speakers. Maybe both. Everything that is broken is the kind of stuff we want to show Nakoma how to fix. The wheels are solid, but the tires are old and have to be replaced. Needs brakes. The sunroof doesn't open. No idea why yet. On and on like that. It will take Nakoma a long time to fix this thing up to pass the State inspection, more or less Jessica and my inspection. A much higher standard."

"Oh. Well. OK then." Angel was mollified. "Sure is a pretty car." She looked at Nakoma, around on the front side of the car, running a hand over the hood.

Jessica was watching Nakoma smiling. "This one is perfect. It's safe. No rust. It has All Wheel Drive, for bad weather. When we are done with this, Nakoma will know everything there is to know about it and will have fixed it herself. When she drives that car to school, your main problem is that it is a station wagon."

Nakoma got into the car and started looking around. Touching all the controls. She headed into the back seat next from the front.

"How is that a problem? Be great for going to the store, as much as we eat around here. Marvin alone!" Angel did not see the issue.

Jessica gave Angel an arched brow. "Wow. It really has been a while for you. Boys? Sleeping bags? Station Wagons? Ringing any bells? I am pretty sure from watching her that she likes boys. Not that it would matter much because girls would fit in back just as easily. Any mix thereof."

"Oh." Angel sounded like she had forgotten her daughter is entering middle teens. She perked up. "Yes. Well, her dad won't let boys near her for a while I think."

Jessica snorted and looked at me. "What do you think about that, dad?"

I sighed. "I am reminded of the story of Morgan's first date"

Angel knew the story. "If Nakoma slips out the bedroom window, you'll know, right? Your hyper-senses?"

"Don't get me wrong, Angel, because we just went to a lot of trouble to keep some pretty evil men away from her, but when she decides it is time, we are just going to have to hold on for dear life. See Morgan for details. Girls will be girls. Nakoma has a level head, and I trust her. I assume you have had the talk, by now?"

"The talk? Singular? Hah! Try a bunch of talks, all about the evils of men and their little brains." Angel growled.

I could not blame her. I now have met her Ex. His problem is that his little brain wasn't allowed to be in control. If it had been, his father never would have been in control of his sexuality and Andrea would have never been near Angel. Guys may be guys, but sometimes it's that they are that way about other guys.

Morgan bit her lip. "Uh. Really? Because what Adrian means by 'The Talk' is more about the way things work, not why they are good or bad. Do you need me to explain the mechanics and the plumbing and stuff to Nakoma? You know what MY old dating rules were, and they evolved because I understood how all of it worked."

"Your old dating rules were amazing..." Angel allowed. "No condom, no Morgan."

"We could all do it together. Maybe we should. She hears you say how bad men are, but she sees there are a few around here we are fond of. Both her grandmothers are very obvious about their affection for their husbands, even if Ben and Sally swing. Hell, you kept offering oral sex to Adrian for a while. She knows you don't practice what you are preaching." Jessica added.

"I have never made that offer in her presence." Angel said stiffly "Also: if he ever took me up on that offer, which he has NOT, it would not be in front of her."

"Don't feel bad. He told us 'no' recently too. My point is, Nakoma is smart, and she knows you like a least one man, the one you wanted to blow for a while..." Morgan glanced at the car. "Also she just folded down the back seats while in them. She will have a someone in there in no time."

"I said I would and I will. I was not being coy. I was just being happy." Angel protested, interrupting Morgan.

"Yes, yes: you are missing the point. I like men. Jessica loves the hell out of men. Nakoma needs to know about why she feels the way she does, or we are going to be grandmothers much sooner than planned." Morgan said.

"Ok. Fine. The three of us and the real talk. Be easier with you all there. What is your deal, Adrian? I thought men loved having a woman do that. To hear some men tell it, that is their favorite thing."

I thought about the alleyway. Morgan's 'look in my eyes' insistence. "I do enjoy said activity. Honest. Sometimes I like or need to snuggle instead. You have been there for the snuggling part. What can I do? Part of why Vera and I did not work is that after sex, I wanted to cuddle, and she wanted to either just go again, or go to sleep or have a drink or something. I was OK with the 'Go Again; part as soon as could. I was human then though, so ... You know."

"He also prefers things like that to be a two-way street. A 68." Jessica added.

"A what?" Angel asked

"Like a 69, only 'you do me and I owe you one'. He likes to pay back immediately. Well: not a beeline to payback, as he does do a lot of sightseeing on the journey to my happy place." Jessica sighed. "Great. I put that in my mind now."

"Yeah. Thanks for that." Angel griped. "So, if I do go down on him, he does the same right back to me?"

"Pretty much." Morgan said.

"Knees up, girl." Jessica told Angel. "The good news is, we taught him well and he is an eager student."

"It's not THAT complicated, as I recall." Angel said.

Nakoma's head popped out the back door "Why can't I open the rear hatch from the inside? That seems dumb."

"It is." Morgan said, smiling at Angel.
