The ship was dead silent.

Only the faint hum of a cryogenic chamber was audible and even so, it still wasn't very resonant. Amidst the plush cushioning of the interior of the chamber lay a girl. At first glance, she looked serene, almost angelic-like with her hair framing her face, but mere hours ago she had been in a furious state of mind.

Afriel had been thrown into the chamber against her will by her own mother. It was for the good of her people, she had said, but Riel couldn't see how it was. She had been panic-stricken as the glass door had been shut on her. From inside the chamber, she could hear the muffled screams of her people as hell rained down upon them.

Riel banged on the glass with all of her might, trying to get out, trying to help, but it was too thick. She shivered as the chamber began the freezing process, but she didn't let up. She had to get out. She had to.

Her people were dying because of her, and she couldn't stand by and watch as they were massacred. Her mother had already been taken to a secure place to try and hide from the evil along with her father. All three of them were running from the mistakes they had made and it wasn't fair to her people.

If only her parents' greed hadn't gotten the better of them, then none of this would be happening. Her parents would still be safe. Her people would still be safe.

Then everything went dark.

Her ship was sent off to the deepest corner of the galaxy where she would remain until the great evil had passed. Only then would she be woken and return to her people.

She was their only hope.
