It was darker than a starless sky in my room. I couldn't fall asleep. Something didn't feel right. It was like I was forgetting something. I made a mental list of what I did, but nothing was making the feeling go away.
"Why?" I groaned kicking my sheets. I turned over for the 100th time and pulled my sheets up over my head.
I hummed a lullaby to try to relax myself. My eyes were getting heavy and I felt my breathing slow. Perhaps my brain was playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn someone was singing words gently. I stopped humming and the mysterious voice halted. I dismissed it after a few minutes of silence and grew restless again. I began humming again. This time I was sure I heard it. I sat up in my bed rapidly and looked around. I didn't see anything, but I smelled an absolutely awful stench. I gagged and pulled my shirt up over my nose.
What was that?
I ran to the light switch and turned it on. I saw a few bugs around some rotting meat. I made a mental note to myself to scold Hoshi in the morning. He knew better than to eat in my room. I opened my window and chucked the meat out. Then, I rushed to the bathroom to wash my hands. It was slimy from all mold. The meat had been greenish with a few black spots.
I decided to keep my window open, because the room smelled absolutey awful. I was amazed that I hadn't smelled it earlier. It was like the awful smell was getting worse and worse by the minute. It was begining to get unbearable. There must have been more meat somewhere.
I searched my room looking for the source of the reeking odor. I couldn't locate where it was coming from. I was gradually getting more and more frustrated. The miasma of rot was making my head hurt. I needed to leave, but I didn't want the rest of the dormitories smelling, especially when we still had guests.
I opened my window wide and hopped out. My window was very close to the ground, so it wasn't a problem. As my feet connected with the ground I felt myself land on somthing mushy. I looked down and cringed at the sight of the moldy meat on my shoes.
"Fuck," I whispered.
I tried to wipe it off on the grass, but I had very little sucess. Now that smell really wouldn't leave me. I began walking around, hoping that I might get the nauseating mold off my shoes and lessen my headache with fresh air.
I scraped my shoes on the ground for a good thirty minutes. I was sure that it was off. I started heading back towards my dorm room. I peeked my head in and the smell seemed to be gone.
I climbed through the window and decided to go to sleep. I was exhausted from the walking. I laid down on my bed and felt like I was under some heavy trance. My eyes seemed to weigh a hundred pounds, and my muscles were unnaturally still. I was falling into a deep slumber and I heard the eerie humming again.
I tried to sit up and scream, but i couldn't do anything. I was stuck in a black abyss, suspended wherever I was by the awful voice. I tried to get loose from the invisible ropes that seemed to bind me in place, but it was useless.
"Let me go!" I attempted to yell desperately, but my mouth felt as though it had been sewed close. My muscles ached horribly, but i still tried to break free from the grasp.
I tugged my arms and I heard a creaking sound. I moved my head over as much as I could and I saw that the rope was breaking. I started thrashing my arms with more force to break it completely.
Suddenly there was a loud snap and my stomach lunged into my throat. I felt like I was choking as I fell into the darkness.
I felt like I was falling for a long time when suddenly I crashed into something with the force of a thousand arrows. It was soft, moist, and slimy. The over powering odor made me vomit. I knew exactly what I was in.
