I see darkness. Nothing but darkness. Then light. I bright, bright light that makes me squint. I start towards it. Then stop. Then start walking towards it again. Then it disappears. My eyes are filled with memories.
One is my mom and dad, a year after Jake was born, fighting. They keep yelling at each other. Yelling and yelling. Finally my dad walks away to their room and comes out with a suit case and walks out the door. My mom busts in to tears and sinks to the floor. Little me hugs her and cries.
It ends.
Another flashes.
My mom is seven months pregnant with Josh, and let me tell you, she is huge. Anyway, she is sitting on the counter. My dad in front of her between her legs. His long, nimble hands on her swollen belly. They are making out. Every time they pull away one or the other says 'I love you.'
Everything goes black.
