The horse beneath kid was starting to become a bit of a bumpy ride. It was making him feel a bit queasy. He ignored the feeling and carried on. The wind was blowing into his face, making his eyes water. He searched the woods with his eyes for any signs of people. He could hear the soft hooves of sandy on the ground, sounding rather like a rhythm. the last time he was this worried about heyes was when he took a bullet to the head in hollistown. but then he could see him and know he was going to be okay whether as now he didn't have a clue what condition he's in. the sun was now fully in the sky. he pulled his head lower over his eyes, shielding them from the brightness on the sun.
it was pretty here though. where ever he was. it looked peaceful. the flowers were all blossoming and the leaves on the trees were all a juicy greeny colour. the air smelled fresh and clean.
he rode on for a few more hours and then rested for a spell in the shade of the trees. he removed his hat from his head and placed it next to him. he rested his head against the bark of the tree behind him. he watched sandy chomping away on some grass a few feet away from him. the chess nut stallion stamped her hooves on the ground, clearly glad to be stopping for a while. he didn't know how long he was going to be out here and the supplies Mr mcCreedy had packed were going to run out soon enough. he hoped he caught up to wherever heyes was soon. the suspense was killing him. he tried to get some rest but somehow his mind wouldn't shut off. he had this nagging feeling that something was going to go dreadfully wrong. as if right on que another chessnut stallion burst through the clearing, at a full canter. kid jumped up from where he was sitting and ran towards it.
" woah, easy! easy! " he coaxed, pulling in the reins. " your lost aren't ya? looking for someone? well that makes two of us"
as if the horse understand what he was saying the horse brushed its nose against kids hand and snorted.
kid glanced at what was in the horses back. a couple of saddle bags. " it looks like this horse lost his rider " kid said to himself. he had a look through one of the saddle bags.
he froze.

Madeline glazed up at the hot sun. feeling it burning her skin. she felt so alive. better then she had done in a while. once again she was in the saddle, cocooned in the arms of Joshua smith. her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, secured by Joshua's necktie. she was also wearing his navy blue cowboy hat. she pulled it down further over her eyes shielding them from the sun. she was feeling extremely happy today. extremely happy.
behind her Hannibal heyes was still arguing with himself. this girl was taking over control of him like no other girl had. he had never experienced feelings for a girl this strong. it was normally the kids department to do something like this. not Hannibal heyes. he groaned deep in his throat as her breasts brushed his arms ever so slightly. he didn't know how he felt for this girl. his feelings for her was confusing him. he once thought of her as his rescuer. he still does but lately he sees her as more and he can't get his head round it. he never felt like this for anyone, well except a girl from the orphanage but he was so young he didn't understand what love was back then.
her voice interrupted his thoughts.
"tell me a story about yourself or something." because I love listening to your voice" she added silently to herself.
He racked his brains for one. what could he tell her that wouldn't give him away.
he settled with a story. admittedly though it was about devils hole but what are the likes she knows about Hannibal heyes? very high. said a voice in the back of his head.
the next hour he told her stories of devils hole. when he had finished her head was now on his chest. he continued to look at where they were traveling to avoid eye contact.
she gazed up at the face she found handsome indeed. how did he know so much about devils hole? perhaps he's an outlaw himself? no. he couldn't be. would a outlaw look so sweet and innocent?
he looked down at her for a brief second. her eyes were fixed on his face. he began to blush. his glaze fell onto her mouth. he was met with the desire to kiss her. what on earth was wrong with him? if he did kiss her what were the ends she would slap his face. probably none judging by the way she was looking at him.
oh how she loved his warm chocolate coloured eyes. she saw his glaze fall onto his mouth. was he going to kiss her? oh how she would love him to kiss her. she had some men kiss her but they were just pecks on her cheek. she had never really had the experience of a real kiss. oh how she wanted her first time to be with Joshua. his glaze returned to where they were heading and she felt suddenly disappointed. mclaggens face,without warning, loomed in her head. guilt began to choke her again. stupid stupid girl. she could of kicked herself for imagining anything with him. she was leading him to a horrible fate. she immediately leaned forward again. she couldn't take the risk with Joshua. she couldn't. she just had to do her duty and that's it.
"shall we stop here? don't know about you but I think this horse may need a rest. she's been carrying double the weight for a while" Joshua's voice broke her out of her trance.
"huh? what? yes. alright then."
he slowed the horse down and removed his arms to allow her to slide off. once she was down he followed her. he untied the saddle bags and placed them on the floor. she immediately began to pull stuff out that she thought they would need.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
he knew who those saddle bags belonged to. they belonged to heyes. fear and dread chewed away at his heart for his friend. he was downright nervous. this was Joshua's horse. but if his horse was here. where was he? did he need him? he angrily slabbed his stuff down on the floor and sat down, arms folded.
he blamed the boys for this. he will get them and make them pay for what they had done. he squeezed his hands tightly into fists.
some time past. but he didn't want to get up. but he had to. he was more frightened then ever at what he would find when if he found heyes. no. he wouldn't sit here fretting. heyes wouldn't want that. he stood up and pulled some ropes out. he looped it over his saddle and tied it and then tied the other end to heyes horse. he was going to bring the horse with him.
stay put heyes. where ever you are. I'm coming. he sent up a silent pray. something he hadn't done in a while.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
