Sharky looked up from the kitchen when he saw me walk into the kitchen the next morning. "Good morning sleepyhead," he greeted.
"What time is it?" I questioned with a groggy tone of voice as I sat down at the table.
"About close to eleven in the morning. Going to try and whip you up some brunch or whatever the fuck it's called. Earlier this morning, I got up and went over to the jail to see if your old man had something for me to make you and he gave me...whatever this is," he motioned to the food that was in a pan on the oven. "Oh, by the way, you have to go see him some point today. I told him what you went through with Jacob and he wants to see that you're...alive," Sharky explained.
I jokingly rolled my eyes. "Of course he does. That man can't take a simple radio call saying that 'hey, I'm alright'," I explained.
"The man loves you, Shorty," Sharky said as he handed me a glass of water. "Drink up. Did you do so throughout the night?" He questioned.
"Yes Dad," I replied. "I couldn't sleep anyway so all I did was drink water and ate whatever the fuck I could find in your kitchen," I explained.
"Good job, girly," Sharky said with a huge smile on his face. Once the food was done, he placed the plate down in front of me and when I saw that it looked edible, I grabbed a fork and started eating. "Now I know you don't like it when I tell you this, but I'm going to take you to see Earl and then we're coming back here and we're just going to relax all day. Not going to focus on the cult at all," Sharky explained. "You're now like... a hundred pounds soaking wet and I don't want you getting hurt out there the way that you're in." I opened my mouth to protest but Sharky stopped me by saying, "No ifs, buts or coconuts, shorty."

"Hey Tracey," I greeted as I and Sharky walked into the jail and found Tracey. "Where's my dad?"
"Hey, Lily. Nice to see you came out of Jacob's vice grip on your own two feet. Earl's talking to someone right now. Haven't seen him from anywhere; hopefully, he can be a new member of the Resistance," Tracey explained as she pointed to where Earl was off to.
Sharky and I shrugged our shoulders slightly as we walked towards where Tracey pointed us to. Once we entered the room, we saw Earl and a man conversing with one another. My heart stopped instantly when I saw the man that my dad was talking to. Even though he was dressed in streetwear; a long sleeve shirt to cover up the scars and tattoos, a pair of cargo pants and shoes. He was wearing a beanie with strands of his hair peeking out of the hat and was wearing something over his mouth to cover his beard but I knew who it was through his disguise Why the fuck is he here!?
Joseph looked over at me and I saw it in his eyes that he was happy to see me. Why did I even come here, to begin with? He walked over to me and leaned in my ear and whispered, "I'll be seeing you tonight," and then walked away from the three of us.
I saw out of the corner of my eye Sharky having a look of anger on his face as Earl commented, "Speak of the Devil," before embracing me in a hug. "So glad to see you alive, sweetie." He broke the hug as he took a glance at my body. "Have you been trying to get some food into you?"
"Sharky's been helping a lot," I answered while pointing at the pyromaniac. "He's taking on the father role for me while you're over here," I added with a small laugh.
"He always seemed to have that in him when it came to you. At least I knew there are times where he smartened up," Earl commented.
Sharky rolled his eyes and a laugh left his mouth. "Aww, c'mon guys. I'm not that bad."
Earl looked at him with a 'really' look on his face before looking back at me in which I asked, "Who was that man that was talking to you earlier?"
"He said he was Joey. He explained that he used to be a personal friend of the Seeds and was up on the food chain so to speak with them but decided that he wanted to leave just due to morale differences and wanted to see if he can help around with the Resistance to try and take down the cult. It was because of how close he was to all of them, he knew about the whole 'God's plan' bullshit where Joseph and you should be destined to be together; he believed in that mindset to this day. I don't know why so don't ask. Anyways, he was here, after some small talk about what he can do to help us, to try and persuade me into persuading you to go along with those plans made by God. Or whatever it was that he was trying to do. He almost did a pretty good job at it, too."
"What stopped it from being a full proof plan, Sheriff?" Sharky questioned.
"I want my daughter to make her own choices as to who she marries. I may like or not like her choice because I am her father and want nothing but the best for her, but I would come around to the idea once I see that whoever she chooses wants to be with her," Earl explained. "Also a part me doesn't want to be associated with that family in any regard," he quickly added.
"Yeah, that always helps," Sharky commented.
After the three of us talked about almost anything and everything for the next few minutes, Sharky and I walked out of the jail and made our way back towards his trailer. As soon as we stepped out of the car when we got to the park I stated, "Well, at least my dad's smart in knowing not to agree with what Joseph tries and tells him."
"Okay, so I'm not the only one who thought that dude was Broseph," Sharky said. "Man, that dude is obsessed with you."
"Should've just stayed in Missoula when I had the chance," I commented with a shrug of my shoulders as we walked inside the trailer. "Should've grabbed all the friends and we all went over to live there until the cult blew over."
"However, you're here trying to take them down. We wouldn't have it any other way. Besides, Lilith Whitehorse in Hope County just makes sense."
After spending the day at the trailer, I made my way back to my house for the night. Despite Sharky's protests, I said that I wanted to be home for the night and that I'll report back to him the next morning. When I pulled up to my house, I saw that all too familiar car parked in front. Man, I wish he was kidding was the thought running through my head as a sigh left my mouth and I entered the house.
