Percy's POV

I just arrived home from studying with my girlfriend, Annabeth. I love her and all, but she's making me study so we can go to college together next year. I had to go because she was supposed to be showing a new kid around Camp Half-Blood.

"Hey, mom, hey Paul." I walked through the door greeting my mom, Sally Jackson, and stepdad Paul Blofis. My mom and her husband were sitting on the couch watching something on the TV.

"Hey honey, I made some cookies, they're in the kitchen if you want one." My mom makes the best cookies, so when she mentioned them, I nearly sprinted into the kitchen. "Oh, and once you do, come watch this, there seems to be some crazy breaking news." Atop the counter sat a tray full of freshly baked cookies. They smelled delicious, and they looked amazing too, well only if you think blue cookies look good. I definitely do. I grabbed one of the delectable baked goods and joined my family on the couch. My new baby sister, Estelle, was sitting on my mom's lap sucking on a pacifier.

This might sound crazy, but I have nearly no knowledge of what happens in the world. Most demigods are extremely secluded from anywhere but camp and what happens in the Greek, and now Roman, worlds. Also, I stopped going to school last year just after the war against the giants. Annabeth started tutoring me after that because school just didn't work out for me. My stepdad, Paul was a little disappointed when I decided to stop going to Good High School, but it was the best option for me. Ever since I stopped school, I've never had any way of knowing what was going on outside my life, but I never really had any way of knowing either way because I never had any friends, other than Grover, of course. This year especially I didn't know what was going on. Over the last nine months or so, something has seemed like it has been keeping everyone in "my world" away from the rest of the world. The only places I've ever been in the last year has been both camps, the ocean, and really recently, my house, but that has only been for the last few weeks. I'm not sure, but due to what everyone at camp says, as they haven't really left at all either, I think the gods are trying to keep us away from something outside camp.

Because of this lack of connection, when the identity of "Spiderman" was revealed on television, I wasn't surprised, but rather, confused. My parents, on the other hand, seemed shocked like this was some huge revelation that everyone cared about.

So, when my mom saw my face, she asked, "Why do you look so confused, I mean it's crazy what they are saying about Spiderman, a villain, I'm not sure I can believe it, but what's going on honey?"

"That's a good question, what IS going on? Who's Spiderman?" I wondered.

"Wait are you serious, you don't know who Spiderman is?" Paul raised his eyebrows.

"No, should I?"

"Yes!" My mom nearly shouted. "He's only the coolest superhero."

"No way," Paul butted in. "Iron Man is definitely the best."

"Paul, don't bring him into this, you're going to make me cry."

"Well then, what about Thor?"

"Wait, Thor?" I questioned. "Do you mean the Norse god the Magnus hates or something."

"No, the superhero Thor,  with the hammer, or is it an ax now, whatever, you don't know anything about the Avengers?"

"The Aven-whos? I seriously have no idea what the heck you're talking about. I guess I heard someone talking about Iron Man at school one time, but I thought it was just some nerdy comic book stuff or something." Just then, I heard a knock at the door. I got up to get it. It was Annabeth, my girlfriend.

"Hey, I thought you were supposed to be at camp working with some new kid today."

"Yeah, I was supposed to, but something this boy was talking about confused me, and I needed to ask you about it."

"Woah, wise girl wants me to explain something to her, you must be desperate."

"Actually, I am."

"Wow, thanks."

"I asked pretty much everyone at camp, no one knew a thing, except of course Chiron, but he wouldn't tell me anything."

"Well, what is it." We were walking to the kitchen so that I could give Annabeth a cookie, but as we were walking, she stopped and stared at the TV.

"That!" She pointed to the screen. "The Avengers." The TV had a picture of an A on it with a circle around it an arrow coming out of the left side of the A. "Do you know anything about that?"

"No, I don't, but my parents seem to know what it is, talk to them.

After a very long explanation of the "Avengers." I seemed to have more questions than I did before.

"So you're saying, we aren't the only people who've been running around, saving the world. And these superheroes have been living in New York all this time too." When my mom got to the part of the story where half of all life in the universe disappeared, that's when things stopped making sense. "I'm confused, not random time jumps happened, and no one at camp talked about years without anyone."

"Well, Paul, Estelle, and I, all blipped, meaning we missed what happened in the last five years."

"Five years!" Annabeth chimed in. "But it's only 2019 though."

"No, it's 2024." My mom said. Annabeth and I both gasped.

"There is no way that amount of time could have just passed. I mean, that kid said that his mom disappeared and then came back, but I thought it was just some crazy Greek thing that meant we are probably going to have to go on another adventure, or hopefully someone else this time, but I guess not."

"It just surprises me that literally everyone intertwined with mythology happened to 'blip'." My mom mentioned.

"Ya, the probability---" I stopped Annabeth, I didn't need any specific statistics or anything, I could tell that that was nearly impossible without it." There must be something else going on.
