Percy's POV

The train can we stood in came to a complete stop. I jumped out of the front of the ripped apart car to attack the giant that only stood a few meters away from us.

"Wait, Percy!" Annabeth called, grabbing the collar of my shirt to hold me back. "We don't know anything about that thing. We need a plan."

"You said the small things were called Kobaloi," Peter started while running back to where our seats on the train were. "Is this not normal for them?" Peter open one of the overhead bins and pulled out his bag.

"No, definitely not. Kobaloi are nothing more than small little gremlin creatures that try to cause mischief for mortals. They shouldn't be able to shapeshift the way they did. They're supposed to only be able to shift into the form of Dionysius. Also, they aren't strong. They should die from a single sword swipe, but even those small ones were stronger." Annabeth explained.

"It's almost like they had multiple lives. Each of the small ones had two to three souls in them. Now, this big one," Nico gestured to the beast ahead of us, "while I can't completely tell from here, has at least 100."

"So, you're saying that when they were disappearing and the main one was getting bigger, they were merging." I put together.

"Yes, but each of them is still alive in there. They all have separate souls. Separate lives. Meaning..."

"We have to kill it once for every soul." I groaned. Nico nodded showing that I was right about that. As he did, the Kobalos charged. "Well then, let's get to it." Again, I headed straight towards the beast, but this time instead of being held back, Annabeth ran alongside me.

"That's not really a plan, but I guess we'll just have to make this work." She said.

I ran straight towards the left leg of the monster. Compared to the rest of its body, the legs were pretty skinny. Using Riptide, I slashed through the bone, splitting the leg in half, hoping it would topple to the giant. Nothing happened. I cut straight through the leg, but when I looked back at it, it was perfectly intact.

"I think only killing blows do anything," I shouted. "And I don't think I'll be getting any of those from the ground." The chest and head were far too high for me to so anything, and there didn't seem to be any water around I could use to gain height.

"I think you're right," MJ replied as she swung her mace at the Kobalos's right foot, while it tried to stomp of top of her.

"Wait, I have an idea!" Peter, now in his Spiderman suit, was swinging around the monster's head, as an arrow flew straight past him landing directly in the gremlin's eye. "Will, this isn't The Legend of Zelda. Eye shots won't kill it." He yelled, probably as a joke, that I definitely didn't understand, interrupting himself."

"Peter, the idea!" I shouted.

"Oh, right. Ya, and I actually have a little bit of practice with it as well. Only things that cause permanent damage doesn't do anything, right? Also, while I'm in my suit call me Spiderman."

"But wasn't you're identity already revealed?" Will shouted from where he still stood in the train car.

"Just do it please." He didn't elaborate further. "And about the damage thing?"

"Yeah, nothing that would cause permanent damage, we think," I told him as I dodged the hand of the Kobalos swinging towards me.

"Perfect!" Peter yanked the arrow from the monster's eye before swinging around to the back of it. "But first," As he swung around, he used the arrowhead to slice through the giant's nape, "Attack On Titan style! I've always wanted to do that." Unfortunately, the cut didn't leave any damage.

"Pet--Spiderman, you killed one of the souls!" Nico yelled.

"Wait, that actually worked. Cool!" He sounded pleased and surprised. He laughed a little as he swung lower towards the ground. "Alright, now for the actual plan." He started swinging around the legs of the Kobalos while stringing webs around them.

"Trying to make it fall using your webs, smart!" Annabeth yelled. Sadly, it wasn't that easy. The Kobalos started to kick a little after Peter circled it about 3 times. With only a little bit of force, it broke straight through the ropes.

"Darn it! I guess that worked better on Ant-Man. If I could circle it a few more times, I'm sure the bindings would be able to hold it. Guess I'm not quite fast enough."

"Wait, Spiderman. Give me one of your web-shooters." MJ insisted. "I am fast enough."

"You sure?" He asked, only to receive a nod for his girlfriend. While dodging an attack, he threw a device attached to his wrist down to MJ. Almost as soon as she caught it, there was a strong gust of wind. The next time I blinked the legs of the Kobalos was wrapped with layers and layers of webs from the ankles to just below the knees (about the height of a tall person).

Through heavy breaths, MJ, who was suddenly right next to me, yelled: "Will, Spiderman, hit its head!" As she ordered, Peter, now only using one web-shooter kicked the beast in between its eyes just as an arrow soared straight into its forehead. Slowly, without being able to use its legs to stabilize itself, the Kobalos fell down, creating a cloud of dust as it crashed to the ground.

"WEB GRENADES!" Peter shouted, seemingly as a command of sorts. He shot a burst of webs at the monster's head, hands, and legs, making sure to go over them each a few times to make sure the beast wouldn't be able to move. "Now you just need to kill it like a hundred times."

That's exactly what we did. For the next 10 or so minutes straight Annabeth, Nico, and I took up a spot around the Kobalos's body, sending near-constant killing blows. Surprisingly, even though I'm pretty sure everyone expected it, as each soul was killed, the monster didn't shrink in the way that it grew. That was actually pretty lucky though because if it did shrink, it would have come loose from its bonds.

Peter, MJ, and Will were sitting off to the side because, while I didn't know the exact reason, MJ needed medical attention. Having a healer on a quest was a new thing for me, but it's very convenient, that's for sure.

"10 left," Nico told us before swinging his sword down on the Kobalos's neck. The hit would've normally cut off the monster's head, but, of course, it didn't. At least it killed a soul, or whatever Nico says gives it multiple lives.

About one more minute later, once we were all pretty tired from the constant sword swings or dagger jabs, "Two more." I stabbed Riptide into the heart of the giant gremlin as I had been doing for the last few minutes.

Nico was about to finish the last life. His sword was inches from the monster's neck. Just before it made contact, the Kobalos seemingly disappeared. "What? Where is it?" I asked.

I heard an annoyingly familiar laugh from beside me. A few feet away, the last singular Kobalos within the giant one reverted back to its normal size. I started to scurry away into the forest that was nearby. I tried to race after it, but not only was it surprisingly fast, I was also already tired from the fight.

Sure it was only one small, pretty harmless gremlin creature, but after all of that, it was annoying to even let one go. I let out a sigh of disappointment as I stopped running towards it and let it get farther away.

"Percy, it's fine. Let's go meet up with the others." Annabeth put her arm around me and we headed off towards Peter, Will, and MJ.

A little info in case it was confusing, Kobaloi is the plural of Kobalos. If you want a little more information on them, you can look em up. They are real creatures from Greek Mythology.

Once again, sorry for the awful fight scene, this one was even worse than last chapter. It'll probably only be 1-2 more chapters until a big reveal, so I'm excited.

Until next chapter, CYA!
