Peter's POV
I sat on a train with 5 half-bloods. MJ, of course, was next to me. We'd been on the train for around 45 minutes at this point, and because MJ was pushing herself really hard yesterday with her training, she was asleep. MJ's head rested on my shoulder as she rested. I couldn't help but smile at her. She looked so peaceful.
"Hey, Will?" I asked to the blonde-haired boy who was sitting across from me.
"Yeah?"
"Yesterday, you said I talk in my sleep. What exactly did I say?" I questioned. The response about my late mentor which he gave me yesterday lingered in my mind.
"He was more than a mentor, wasn't he?"
I couldn't get those words out of my head...because it was true."Well, I don't know if now's really the right time to bring up bad memories."
"What do you mean by that?"
"While you were unconscious after your fall a few days ago, you seemed to be reliving past events in your sleep. Just the way you talked, the way you moved, the way you cried, it was all too real to just be a dream."
What did I say, what did I dream. The time from when I fell to when I woke up was nothing but empty space for me. All I remember is the feelings. Fear, anger, sadness. All of it, but I don't remember why.
"Do you know why you fell off that tree in the first place? Percy said you just collapsed after he killed the cyclops. While of course you were injured after the fall you took, no injuries seemed to be caused by anything other than that. With your powers, you should have been able to keep yourself stuck to the tree, right?"
Will's inquiry made me think back to that moment. Percy killed the cyclops, turning it to dust. I know exactly why I couldn't keep myself on that tree. I watched the monster disintegrate, just as I did for Starlord, Mantis, Drax, Dr. Strange, and everyone in Thanos's army, even the Mad Titan himself. That monster disintegrated just like I did. Dust like that was not something I ever wanted to see again.
"It has something to do with death. I can see it in your face." Concluded Nico from beside Will.
"Nico we talked about this. No adding yourself into a conversation only when it has to do with death." Will scolded. I let out a small chuckle at the comment.
"He isn't wrong though. But calling it 'something to do with death' is a bit of an understatement." I sighed through a smile, trying to keep both my, and my comrades' spirits high.
"You don't have to hide how you're feeling. We're all friends here, and—"
"Wait." I cut him off, moving my eyes back and forth surveying the train car.
"What is it?" Will asked cautiously.
"I hear something, no, I feel something." I lifted my arm to show the two boys across from me the hairs standing on end. Slowly, I lifted MJ off my shoulder, making her sit up groggily.
"What's happening?" She groaned before I put a finger to her lips.
"Shhhhhhhh." I stood up. Percy and Annabeth from across the aisle noticed this.
"Hey, Peter, what's up?" Percy asked, a bit concerned, almost as if he could feel the same thing that I was. I felt a strange sensation of danger, and mischief, it felt as though thousands of tiny bugs were swarming in my ears.
I put my finger to my mouth to show the two Demi-gods that something was up. I stood still in the aisle and closed my eyes until I heard it again. A laugh. I needed to pinpoint its origin, I kept my eyes closed and my senses aware. Got it!
