Nico POV

I told Chiron the truth, I'm not going on this quest. I don't want to be in constant danger. I don't want to die.

"I can't go on this quest. I'm sorry." I told everyone in the room.

"If that's how you truly feel, I don't think I can force you. However, I do believe that you are the best choice for this quest, so if you change your mind, please let me know immediately." After Chiron's statement, I left. Will followed behind me.

"Nico. Is that really how you feel? Have you really never been happy since Bianca died?" Will asked, clearly worried about me.

I swallowed, "I don't know." I blurted, turning around to face him. "I don't know how I felt, but why does it matter. I'm happy now, with you. And I won't let anything take that away. After all the things I've done in my life, every good, and every bad thing, there is nothing that makes me worthy of you, of your kindness, your bright smile, your everything. The gods must have severely fucked up allowing you in my life, so I'm NOT letting anything take you away from me. Do you understa-" My words were cut off by the warm touch of Will's lips on mine.

"Don't you ever say that you don't deserve me. You deserve so much more than one lousy half-blood, but don't you think for one second that I'm going anywhere. I will be by your side until the end, ok. I won't judge you for not going on this quest." Will pulled me into a tight hug. "You're not the kind of person who plays the hero. And that's ok. I'm not that kind of person either. I'm a coward, but if you were the person I was trying to save, I'd go through Tartarus to do it."

"I wouldn't suggest it. That place is not fun." We both laughed. I looked up into Will's eyes and smiled.

"What if we did it together?"

"What do you mean?"

"The quest, what if we went on the quest together?"

"Oh come on, you just said you wouldn't judge me for not going on the quest, and now you're trying to get me to go."

"Sure, I won't judge, but come on. Imagine if we got to save the world together. With a literal superhero. You have to admit, it would be pretty cool." he beamed.

"I don't think I could possibly refuse anything you say when you smile like that. But I'll only do it if you're allowed to come too."

"Deal!"

We walked back into the Big House. "Chiron, I changed my mind, I'll go on the quest."

"Well, that was a quick change of heart."

"Under one condition." I interrupted. "Will comes too."

The next morning arrived quickly. I sat down at breakfast at the table I started to sit at normally. A table near the back with Will, Percy, Annabeth, Peter, MJ, and Rachel. I used to sit either alone or with the Apollo table, but now since we were allowed to choose where we sat, we made a little group for ourselves. It was nice because it seemed like we were all outcast of some sort.

During breakfast, Chiron made an announcement. "Good Morning Campers. I am sure that everyone has been thinking about the prophecy from last night. You might remember that it said that there will be 7 heroes on this quest. From what we have deciphered, one of these heroes is a mortal, while another is not at camp, and will probably be found during the quest. Due to this, we will have 6 campers on this quest to begin with, 4 of whom have already been chosen. These are Nico DiAngelo, Will Solace, Michelle Jones, and finally, the mortal, Peter Parker."

Murmurs broke out among the campers. "Wait, that new kid who made it to the semi-finals of the bracket is a mortal?"
"Why is he even here?"
"Two of the new campers are going. This is so unfair."
"Of course Nico's going, did you even hear the prophecy."
"Why is that new girl going?"

"And," Chiron continued causing everyone to fall silent, "due to the fact that two of the questers are in the semi-finals of the bracket, we will postpone the event until further notice."

"Ah come on." Clarrise exclaimed, "well I was gonna fight a mortal anyways, so we know how that fight would have gone."

Peter, who was sitting across from me looked offended. "Well I'm not just human," he murmured angrily to himself, "I have superpowers and I've fought aliens and supervillains."

"Aliens?" I thought, did he mention that before, or is that new information.

"Shut up," MJ said to Peter quietly while also slapping the back of his head. "We both know you could take her, you don't need to be all defensive."

"So who are the other two?" Someone shouted from the Pavillion.

"Oh come on, we all know who, they're literally all sitting together...with the oracle." Everyone looked towards our table.

"I don't think we want to go on any more quests, so don't look at us," Annabeth stated. "Oh who am I kidding, we've already been roped into Peter's and MJ's mess, of course, it's us."

"Yup," Percy sighed, "gotta agree with you there. I was trying not to submit to it, but I could feel it ever since last night."

"Don't kid yourself, we both knew since the day Peter arrived," Annabeth admitted.

"What are they talking about?" A camper asked.

"I don't know, but we all know those two are crazy."

Seemingly randomly, Rachel stood up. "As the Oracle of Delphi, I personally, can feel that we have chosen the correct heroes to go on this quest. Don't ask me how I know, I just do." She sat back down.

"All right, it seems we know who will be on this quest," Chiron announced. "The six of you, no, the seven of you, including Rachel, please come to the Big House after breakfast. For the rest of you, please continue your day like normal." After that, Chiron galloped away.

"Ugh, I really tried. Why did you have to ruin it, Annabeth," Percy grumbled. "We could've had two different people go on this quest. I'm so tired of this. It's always us."

"I wanted to stay back as much as you, but we both know that it wasn't right."

"Shut up, wise girl. Why do you always have to be so wise?"

Author's note...woo. Ok, so that first part, was that a little too much cuteness. Sorry, I'm a sucker for an amazing, canon, gay ship. Solangelo is perfect and beautiful, and nothing can change my mind.

Comment your thoughts and predictions. I want to hear them. Also, how are my character interactions, believable? Interesting? Completely wrong?

I've got some really great stuff planned for the future of this story. Next chapter will start the quest. Until next time...CYA!
