"Welcome to camp everyone," a deep voice boomed up. I was tired of hearing these introduction maybe because I couldn't see him clearly. The least I could do was to eat and pay attention on whatever he was saying.
"Where every aspect is taught. Camp activities happen and as you know all know, we bring the best out of our campers. We compete to have fun and win. We help people to find their passion in a certain thing. We are here to avoid some bad practices. We are one."
Now, this guy was really talking what I came here for. I joined the campers who were just clapping to be done with everything. I could relate.
"Although, some of you guys here, might miss home and other stuff there but let's have fun and express ourselves. It's summer camp. Who needs social media when you can have fun interacting with friends." Seriously? The mid-twenties guy was literally comparing friendship and social media. He still earned some laugh.
"Who needs a swimming pool or a jacuzzi when you can swimming the lake and hot springs. Experience the life here with nature and enjoy it. We have food, eat to the fullest." He laughed when saying that sentence. He was quite a jokester.
At least, this was not a boring speech. Laughing and chanting filled the air in the presence of the moon and the stars. Maybe, the moon even formed a smile.
That was a childish remark Thea. I was cool.
"Once again and probably the hundredth time hearing this, welcome to camp guys. Don't forget me. I am Nathaniel, one of the camp supervisors. If you need any help about the camp, I am always and will be there for you guys." We all clapped hands. This was what we called a warm welcoming.
The moment he stepped down from the make shift stage, the talking had gotten more louder. "This is gonna be great," I faced my roomies who had smiles plastered on their faces.
"Its always 100% good,absolute -"
"No theoretical expressions," Kira stopped her. My research was collect. Kira also had a rule that stated #no school related explanations at summer camp.
It was somehow true. Ray also followed the same rule. Since when did I start comparing Ray to her? In my opinion, they were so similar. I should really mind my own business. The last thing I didn't want was Ray knowing Kira.
I just chuckled. Worse things could happen if I introduced them.
"Alright kira," Anna surrendered, raising her arms in the air. Kira smiled at Anna's reaction.
Then, Olive went on a stage like structure.
"Hey fellow campers. Welcome back and we also have new campers. Welcome to camp. You will enjoy life here. I'm Olive. Am one of the head counselor here. I like making new friends. Other campers will arrive within this week."
She continued with some rules at this camp which I didn't give that attention. I already read the handbook. Instead of listening, Anna was keeping me update with the camp culture.
"Hey Anna, is Derek coming?" Asked Kira, joining the group chat.
"Within the week I think," she shrugged. "So I was saying -"
"Who is Derek?" I whispered before my curiosity killed me.
"Anna's family friend who is so cute. When I say he is a package Thea, you need to get me. He is a package. The best part is he can sing."
"Actually -"
"I know Anna, there are a lot of things I can mention but I don't wanna sound like a creepy." Kira was already obsessed with all boys who were above her age. I didn't blame her. I would flip if I had Jace Norman was here.
