Stefan POV

"Did you talk with Ashton?" I ask Caroline for the hundredth time to make sure she hadn't forgotten. Right now me, Kol, Klaus, Rebekah, Bonnie, Silas, the twins and Caroline were all sitting in the living room relaxing while we could.

Bonnie and Kol were talking and bickering about some new spells and what way was the best to perform them.

Caroline, Klaus and Silas were playing with the twins. Klaus was tossing Malcom in the air and catching them while Silas was threating him that if he dropped him Klaus would have to pay hell for it.

Caroline was cooing at Regina as she was trying to form words but only a gurgling mess was coming out.

Rebekah was reading a novel with her head on my lap and her feet on the couch.

It looked as if I was the only one stressed about the war coming. Of course this wasn't true but it sure seemed like it. Everyone was a little dreary and looked as if they could drop dead from exhaustion anytime soon.

The worst of them was Caroline, she had dark circles under her eyes as she had not slept for days and it was finally taking a toll on her. She looked weak and what was worse that I couldn't do anything about it.

"Yeah, he will be arriving soon, although he was pissed that you guys didn't tell him I was kidnapped" she says smirking and I groan, dreading my next conversation with him.

"Am I missing something, Love, who is Ashton?" Klaus asks Caroline raising an eyebrow at her and I swear I could smell the jealousy radiating off of him.

"He's just a really good friend of Kol, Stefan and mine" Caroline replies to him now rocking Regina, one of the twins.

"Did you talk to Katherine, cause she has messaged me that you are ignoring her calls" I say to her.

She sighed before replying "If I talk to Kat she is going to fuss over my voice, health, condition and then she is going to scold me about, do you honestly think I want to get scolded by Katherine Pierce"

What Caroline saying was true, if you had managed to crave your way into Katherine's twisted heart, she would be your rock, your life line support and would act like your second mother.

"Actually, he might be here any second" Caroline says looking at her phone and as soon as she said it the doorbell rang.

All of us vamp speeded to the door while Bonnie ran all the way muttering something about freaky stupid vampire skills.

When we reached I was surprised to find a smirking Ashton leaning on the door probably waiting for someone to invite him inside.

Caroline runs to him and wraps her hands around him as he spins her around and I catch the enraged look on Klaus's face before he masks it as indifference.

"CARE-BARE I MISSED YOU" he exclaims happily while Caroline giggled as he was still spinning her around.

"ASTON, welcome to my humble abode, you are officially invited inside" Caroline says as he puts her down and hugs her.

"And I hear from Katherine that you haven't been sleeping" he says scolding her and giving her a look that a father gives his children when they do something bad.

"Come one, do you really want to scold me instead of doing something else" Caroline says scowling.

"Look Caroline" he says softly "It is not my intention to hurt or feelings but I care about you too much to see you like, for once in your lifetime you actually look like a dead vampire and not like my beautiful sunny goody goody blonde"

"That is the exact same thing are trying to tell her" me and Klaus both say at the same time.

"Ah Stefan!, how are you" he says giving me a glare as I try to look the other way avoiding his gaze "Also you do know that it wouldn't me much of a bother to inform me of your current situations instead of your love life problems right?"

I blush a deep red at his comment and sneaking a glance at Rebekah who was already looking at me which made me blush all the more.

"Like you don't do the same thing" I say and Kol nods his head agreeing with me on my statement of Ashton always coming to me and Kol when he just had a rough breakup, which for your information was every other day.

"Boys, please could you stop fighting for a second" Silas says holding Regina and Malcolm in his hands with an annoyed expression on his face.

"My Favourite Twins" Ashton exclaims happily before vamp speeding towards them and taking them into his hands before he attacks them with kisses.

"I want my children to be alive" Caroline says to Ashton all the while laughing at his antics.

"She's right, you might drop them if you hold them together like that" Klaus says with venom in his tone before taking Regina out of Ashton's hands into his own.

Ashton gave me a 'What's up with him' look but thankfully didn't say anything about it.

Suddenly my phone rang and I went into the living room to pick it up

"Hey Stef" I hear a cheery voice say on the other line

"Katherine" I say trying to say it in the same cheery tone, but it came out forced.

"I am arriving in a few minute, so I accept lavish red carpets to be drawn out and a huge welcome party" she says in a haughty voice, but I can almost hear her lips turn up on her own joke as I let out a booming laugh

"Will that be all, your Majesty" I say playing along with her

"Yes Peasant" she says and suddenly laughs "Oh my god Stef, if you saw the expression Elijah just gave me"

"When will you be arriving?" I ask her

"In A few" she says before continuing in a soft voice "She's going to be alright Stefan"

It had been a hour and an half when we heard the roar of an engine and walked, more like ran, outside to check knowing it was Katherine.

When we reached there we saw Elijah helping a blonde woman out of the car who looked familiar somehow.

When Silas saw the woman I saw him tense beside me looked to see his expression morphing from one of curiosity to one of anger, hurt and betrayal.

"Now, everybody this is-"

"Cora" Silas says glaring at her while cutting of Katherine.

"Is this the way you greet the mother of your child after all these years"
