SPIRITED AWAY
Ok, but who didn't see this one coming.
After taking a wrong turn on the way to their new home, Chihiro and her parents find themselves in what appears to be an abandoned theme park but is actually the spirit world. After her parents eat some of the spirits' food they are turned into pigs, and it is up to Chihiro to save them in order to return back to the human world.
There isn't really much to say about this film since it is just a literal masterpiece. Considered to be one of the most best animated movies of all time, Spirited Away is a magical, imaginative story with a basic yet well executed and touching plot.
Filled with some of Studio Ghibli's most iconic and memorable characters, beautifully designed buildings and a heart warming message to go with it.
All characters go through many changes throughout the movie but develop for the better. The changes are most prominent in Chihiro who, at the beginning of the movie, is a bratty, spoilt, whiny scaredy-cat that later learns to put others before herself and develops into a brave, selfless young lady.
Other notable characters from the film are
No face, who is portrayed as a villain but really just wants some new friends, and the mysterious yet kind-hearted boy, Haku. Haku is the spirit of the Kohaku River and can also transform into a dragon.
