A hand was running through Donghyuck's hair. The only sound in the room was the beeping of monitors and humming of another boy. The song that he was humming was 'You Are My Sunshine'. The younger male enjoyed the voice of the other next to his bed and after a while he finally fluttered his eyes open. Looking at a person he hoped would be sitting there.

"Hey Mark hyung", he smiled softly, making the other smile back.

"Hey Hyuckie", the older mumbled while retreating his hand slowly, wanting to feel his soft hair a little longer, "How are you feeling?"

"Could be better to be honest", the tanned male giggled slightly, but stopped as soon as he felt a sharp pain in his chest, making his face scrunch up in pain, "And you, how are you feeling?"

"Like shit", was the only answer he got.

A silence fell, for Mark it was really painful, but Donghyuck barely noticed it. The young boy seemed to be in a trance, replaying every single memory of every single person. Like it was his favorite movie, one he couldn't stop watching, one he could never get tired from. It didn't matter that it ended, he would think of it and rewatch it again and again and again.

"I remember you", Donghyuck muttered as his eyes met those of Mark, making the older blush since he was staring at Donghyuck's beautiful features and thought that he just got caught. "I know", the older quickly averted his eyes, which made the other frown slightly but shrug it off. Another silence fell, but this time it was Donghyuck admiring Mark's face. The older, of course, noticed and started blushing furiously.

"OkAy-", Mark coughed loudly, hoping his voice wouldn't betray him again, "I want to talk with you", he then stated. Donghyuck nodded with a face that said go-off-i-guess.

"Well, sorry."

Donghyuck waited another few seconds, but Mark kept silent. The tanned male laughed, but stopped immediately thanks to the pain that, once again, shot through his chest. "Great talk", he then muttered while turning his face away from Mark, thinking that the conversation would be over. He was a little bit disappointed, but not really surprised.

"NO!", Mark exclaimed, but coughed once again, "I mean- no..."

A little smile played on Donghyuck's lips as he rolled his eyes playfully and turned around again. "I'm seriously sincerely sorry for being such a dick to you."

"Apology accepted", Donghyuck waved it off. Yes, it kinda hurt what Mark did, but he could understand the pain the other was going through. It just made him sad that everything was taken out on on him.

"Don't accept my apology yet!", Mark frowned. It didn't feel right if he wouldn't explain it to the other more and so he took Donghyuck's hand in his, hoping it would make sure the other concentrated on him and him only. Not on the huge bug that was crawling over one of the walls (it freaked Mark out while Donghyuck hadn't noticed it yet), not the loud voices that came from the hallway and not the sound of sirens which meant that new patients got brought into the hospital.

Just him and Donghyuck only.

And it worked, all of Donghyuck's attention was on him again.

"I lost my grip on reality, which made me slip into a state of pain, regret and madness. It drove me crazy, so crazy that I started hating you. While finding you was the only thing that actually kept me going those past years. It's so stupid of me to try and push you away, maybe it was just the fact that you couldn't remember me. But every time I looked at you, it hurt. It hurt so much and the only way of forgetting the pain, was to transfer it to others.. to you. So I'm so sorry, because you mean the world to me and I'm so glad you're back and I never want to lose you again and I.. I love you", Mark wiped away his own tears as he kept looking into the teary eyes of Donghyuck.

"Mark..", Donghyuck croaked out while opening his arms, the older didn't hesitate and let himself fall into the warm embrace of Lee Donghyuck, "I forgive you and I'm here now.. I love you too silly", the younger grinned.

Mark's eyes widened, as his heart started beating faster. He tilted his head slightly to get a better view of Donghyuck's face, his eyes flickering over to the other's lips once in a while. The butterflies in his tummy fluttering around like crazy. Donghyuck loved him too? He smiled brightly and was about to ask Donghyuck that one question, he had dreaded, but also, longed for his entire life.

"Wanna be best friends again?", Donghyuck beat him to it and Mark's smile fell as soon as it had appeared. He quickly put another, faker, one on his face to not worry the younger.

"Yes, let's be best friends again", he said as he lay down again.

'Just best friends..', he thought while ignoring the pain that made it's way to his heart.
