A month.

It had been a month since the accident. Things were going great between all the boys, they did a lot together. Slowly becoming one big family, a family every one of them needed. Beside friendships, a beautiful feeling blossomed in the hearts of them all.

A feeling of belonging somewhere, a feeling of warmth spreading throughout their entire body. The feeling of being loved and falling in love.

Mark was someone that was experiencing it the most. He fell hard and was yet to hit the ground. The butterflies made him feel like he himself was flying. The constant blushing made him dizzy and the bang of adoration whenever he saw Donghyuck was overwhelming.

A week.

It had been a week since Mark decided to confess. The nervous boy tried to find the right time. He wanted his confession to be perfect, hoping that it would increase the chance of his feelings being returned.

Mark honestly didn't know how all these feelings had happened. Maybe because he hadn't seen Donghyuck in years, maybe the feeling had always been hidden somewhere deep down in his heart. As a child Mark used to like Donghyuck more than his hyungs or other friends, thinking it was just because of the other being his best friend.

But now he realized that it meant more, way more.

A day.

It had been a day since Mark was planning it all. He knew where he wanted to do it and how. He was going to do it in a few minutes. When the sunset would decorate the sky, when the birds would soften their chirps and when the little playground looked the most beautiful.

He was going to do it.

He was going to tell Donghyuck he loved him, more than a best friend should.

So here he was, searching the entire police station for Lee Donghyuck. Mark had only told Johnny about his plan, which the older supported unconditionally. So luckily the tall male was there to help him and soon came walking towards Mark with Donghyuck trailing somewhere behind him.

"Hey Mark, Johnny hyung told me you were looking for me?", Donghyuck stood in front of Mark with a curious expression.

"O-Oh.. yes..", Mark stuttered, looking at Johnny who shot him a comforting smile and reassuring thumbs up, "Please follow me Hyuckie."

Donghyuck nodded and started walking after Mark, who was going outside to his surprise. "Mark..Don't we need our jackets?", he softly asked the older, who shook his head and told him that he wouldn't get cold.

"Trust me", Mark smiled a little and took Donghyuck's hand in his, then he started to run.

"Wha- Mark hold up!", the boys their laughs and footsteps echoed through the streets as they ran towards the little playground. But before they reached it Mark suddenly stopped, making Donghyuck almost bump into him.

"Why are we stopping?", the younger wondered and gasped in surprise when Mark suddenly covered his eyes with his hands, "Mark? What are you doing?", he nervously asked.

"I told you to trust me, didn't I?", Donghyuck nodded, "Do you trust me?", Donghyuck nodded again, "Good..Now let me take you somewhere."

"Okay, but if it's the gym, I swear to god, I won't hesitate to kill you!", Mark giggled and mumbled a few 'I know, I knows'.

After a few minutes of Donghyuck almost tripping and cursing and Mark trying to keep the other safe while laughing, they finally reached the playground. "We're here", Mark muttered.

"Took us long enough", Donghyuck huffed, "Really Mark I don't know what you're planning to do- Oh", Donghyuck instantly became silent as the hands disappeared from his eyes and he could clearly see his surroundings.

The playground was right in front of him, but it didn't look the same. In the middle (in between the little carousel and slide) was a carpet, blanket and a small picknick basket on top of it. There were no candles, but everywhere small lightbulbs (close to Christmas lights just not red and green) that were spread around the playground. It looked breathtaking as the light of the setting sun shined perfectly on the carpet.

"Ma..Mark, seriously.. What is th- this?", Donghyuck had trouble with forming a correct sentence. It was like his voice didn't work anymore. This was just so... unexpected. He didn't know how to react, but luckily Mark took the lead as he once again grabbed Donghyuck's hand and brought him to the carpet.

"This is for you", the older smiled while making the both of them sit down.

"B-But why?", Donghyuck looked at Mark's twinkling, but nervous eyes.

"I need to tell you something..", that made Donghyuck's heart beat like crazy. "W-Well.. Tell me then", he muttered while breaking eye contact with Mark and looking at his slightly sweaty hands instead.

"Look Donghyuck, ever since I saw you again this spark started within me. And over the past weeks it became bigger and bigger.. There is just this thing about you.. It makes me want to hold you and cherish you forever. But not in a way best friends do.. In a way that means so much more. I was so scared for my own feelings and for yours too, but I realized that it's better if I get it off my chest. Lee Donghyuck, I no longer want to be your best friend. I hope I can call myself your boyfriend instead", he rambled.

Barely taking any time to breathe, making up the sentences on spot. He had prepared an entire speech, but he forgot it all as he looked into Donghyuck's widened eyes, that slowly started to form tears.

"Don't..", the younger boy tried to blink his tears away, "Just..Please don't", he muttered, confusing Mark.

"Don't what? Donghyuck.. I love you, do you want to be my boyfriend?"

"No!", Donghyuck snapped while standing up. His voice and face immediately softened as he saw Mark's surprised and heart broken face. "I'm sorry.. I just can't", Donghyuck then turned around and ran away to wherever his legs would take him.

Meanwhile Mark sat on the carpet, tears prickling in his eyes and his heart being broken like never before. Why couldn't fate be on his side for once? He screamed and buried his face in his hands, while repeating the question; why?

Love was like fire to Mark.

It fascinated him, but scared the hell out of him at the same time.

How could something so beautiful, be so dangerous?

So destructing?

It was hot enough to burn him, but it gave him a warm feeling at the same time. It was something you need to survive, but also something that could kill you without mercy.

Love was like fire and Lee Donghyuck was the gasoline.

It send shivers down Mark's spine, catching feelings was the same as catching fire. He was scared that it would destroy him, slowly, but beautifully.

Love was like fire, but Mark was willing to give it a shot.

Sadly Donghyuck wasn't able to do the same.
