Yang Yang tiredly walked out of Renjun's room, yawning 'charmingly' as he greeted some of the boys in the living room. "Hey guys, where's the little one?", he asked them, but before they could answer he heard the voice of his beloved boyfriend, cursing at him in Chinese.
"Yang Yang come and say that to my face, I dare you!"
The said boy laughed and walked towards the kitchen, he assumed that Renjun would be in there. And he was right, there stood the older male, preparing something that seemed like a picknick basket. Yang Yang walked up to him and gave him a hug from behind, Renjun sighed and turned around with a slight smile as Yang Yang pecked his lips softly. But the smile quickly fell when the younger boy continued talking.
"What are you doing, little one?"
Renjun let out a sound- that was close to a literal growl- but it only made Yang Yang laugh. "Don't test me, or I'll spit in your sandwiches", Renjun hissed.
The younger put his hands up in surrender and made an ugly kissy face at Renjun, who rolled his eyes and turned around to hide his smile and continue making food.
"Are you going to help me or what?"
"What."
"I sWEAR TO GOD YANG YANG", said one started laughing once again, at the 'angry' tone of his lover and quickly stood beside him.
"Calm down, see, I'm helping already!"
That's how they spend their morning preparing food for.. Yang Yang didn't know what for.
But he didn't want to complain, so instead he listened to the soft humming of Renjun as he cut some vegetables.
Eventually Renjun thought this was enough food and told Yang Yang to stop. "We're all ready!"
Yang Yang couldn't help but let a smile creep onto his face as he looked at Renjun's satisfied grin. "Ready for what exactly?", he then managed to ask.
Renjun opened his mouth in the shape of an o, clearly portraying the feeling of 'betrayal' on his face. "You forgot didn't you?"
Oh no.
"My god Yang! I talked about it so many times and you still managed to forget it?!"
This wasn't good.
"Why can't you remember important things?!"
Important things?
"I really looked forward to having a picnic with you but-"
And then it clicked in Yang Yang's mind. He vaguely remembered that he was gaming and Renjun was on the couch next to him. The older had started rambling about a picnic, but Yang Yang was too engrossed in the game and just hummed at whatever Renjun said. Nodding his head when he thought would be the right moment.
"Pay attention to me!", his boyfriend now- rather cutely- whined.
Oh.
He was dozing off again.
"Sorry Junnie", he cooed, "We can still picnic and I promise I'll make it up to you with cuddles and kisses!"
And so they did.
The picnic was a huge success (if you're asking Yang Yang).
They found a perfect spot under a tree, near a lake and surrounded by flowers. But of course it was too beautiful and good to be true, before they knew it there were a bunch of toddlers running around.
That was also the moment Renjun looked Yang Yang dead in the eye and told them they'll never be parents.
"Oh come on! You'll manage to love our kid!", he had whined.
"I doubt that", was the only thing Renjun muttered before munching on his sandwich again.
When a ball flew towards the two, Renjun ignored the shouts of the children asking them to throw the ball back at them. Yang Yang took pity- and was somewhere embarrassed by his boyfriend- so he grabbed the ball and accidentally swung it into the river instead of the kid's hands.
The older had done nothing but laugh at his failure, while he watched the kids (and Yang Yang) try to get the ball out of the water with a stick. Renjun had even hoped one of them would fall, but that didn't happen much to his dismay.
Yang Yang had returned, all sweaty and gross, but Renjun still gave him a small peck for trying to be the hero after accidentally becoming the villain for a bunch of kids.
They enjoyed the last bit of food under the sun, a soft breeze blowing through their hair.
Yang Yang had turned around to face his boyfriend and couldn't help but admire at the other's beautiful features (he hadn't realized the other was doing the same). With the way the sun shone down on Renjun and his skin brightened, but his eyes even more, it was hard not to love him.
So Yang Yang rolled over and tried to smother Renjun with all the kisses in the world, making the latter trash around in his hold yelling about 'assault'.
Forgetting that they were, in fact, still in a public place.
So when a bunch of people stormed up to them, ready to fight Yang Yang, Renjun had to explain and convince them that it was just a joke and that the younger would never do that to him, yada, yada, yada.
So yeah, the picnic date was a success.
Call him a sap, but it was only counted as success because he had spend the entire day with the person he loved.
What was even better, were the warm cuddles that followed. Renjun cradled him in his arms and delicately placed a kiss on the crown of his hair, apologizing to him for starting such a mess. Yang Yang had just smiled reassuringly, leaned closer into Renjun's chest and told him that it was okay.
Renjun may act like a tsundere, but both boys knew how much they loved each other.
They loved each other to the middle of the lake- where the ball had landed- and back.
