P A R T 13

That whole evening after school was out, Asia was at Jayla's house.

"You should've came to school today.", Jayla said. "You know Kenya and Brit?"

Asia nods.

"They fought. Brit slept with Aaron", she added.

Asia begins to laugh. "Nooooo", Asia said. "That's crazy"

"Right". Jayla looks at Asia's phone and sees an incoming call . Her phone is on silent. "Josh is calling"

Asia looks at her phone until he stops calling. "It probably was nothing, it didn't ring that long", she said as she put her phone down.

"Asia, girl come on. Is everything okay?? That's your third time ignoring his call", she said.

"I'm not ignoring his call", Asia disagreed.

Suddenly it was a knock at the front door.

"I'm not here", Asia said.

Jayla looks confused. "What's going on??", Jayla asked.

"Nothing, just answer it but I'm not here", she said.

The knocks got louder.

Jayla's little brother came in the room. "Jayla somebody's- "

"I know", Jayla said as she walks to the door and opened it to see Josh.

Josh begins to look past her in the house. "Where Asia?"

"I don't know", Jayla replied.

"Mind if I step in", Josh said.

"No boys allowed while mom's at work", Jayla said with a smile.

"I wasn't really asking", he stated.

Jayla was silent.

Josh slowly pushed the door open and walked in.

"Ooooh I'm tellin mama", one of Jayla's siblings said.

Josh hands everybody a 20 except for Jayla.

"Never mind", they with a smile.

Josh walks through all the room and closet and Asia was nowhere to be found. As he looked in Jayla's room he saw that the window was cracked open.

"Ay, J? Come here", he said.

Jayla walks into the room feeling a bit scared.

Josh shuts the door. "I'm only gonna ask you this once. I really dont wanna ask this again", he said. "Was Asia in this room?"

Jayla replied, "no"

Josh grabs her throat and kinda lifts her up off her feet. "Don't lie to me".

Jayla gets scared and grabs his hands. "I'm - I'm not", she said gasping for air.

Josh let's her go and she fell to the floor.

"You mean to tell me you ain't here from her all day?", he asked.

Jayla shakes her head, "no", still trying to catch her breath.

"So she wasn't in school?", Josh asked.

Jayla shook her head in silence.

Josh nods and walks out.

"Damn, Asia", Jayla mumbles you herself

That later that night. Asia went back to the club from earlier for her first day. She was real nervous, this wasn't her and she knew it. But she didn't have a choice at this point. She needed the money and she didn't wanna depend on Josh. She wanted to move out of the state all together really. Asia walked in the locker room to be stared at by multiple girls.

"Who are you", one of the girls said.

"Asia", she said as her sat her stuff down.

"What are you doing in here", another girl said.

"I work here", Asia said.

The girls look in shock.

"Guys don't be rude", another girl said. "Sorry about them, I'm Kelly"

"Asia... nice to meet you", Asia said.

"Same to you, gorgeous", Kelly said.

"Well unless gorgeous got some skill, she ain't gonna be making no money tonight"

"Lex, quit.", Kelly said.

"Listen, I don't have time for the drama, I just came to make money. If you got a problem with that, then well ... " Asia said with a shrug.

Lex rolls her eyes.

"Guess she told you", another girl said.

"Shut up", she said.

An hour or two later. It was Asia's turn to get on the stage along with a girl named cinnamon. Asia wore an eye mask so she couldn't be spotted out if anyone knew her. That night she made a good 500. She felt like it was good for her first night. As she left the club she got a call from Jayla.

"Hello?", Asia answered.

"Where in the hell have you been??", Jayla asked.

"Work", she replied.

"Work? I thought you got fired!.. you know what I don't care. What in the hell is going on with you and josh!? He chocked me up and you left!", Jayla yelled.

"He choked you??", Asia asked worried.

"Yes!", she said.

Asia tells Jayla what happened the night josh hit her.

"Dang. I get being upset about his mama but he ain't have to do you like that", Jayla said.

"Yea... well he did", Asia said.

"I'm sorry girl", Jayla said.

"No I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to go through that because of me", Asia said.

"....it's okay I guess.", Jayla said. "Where you staying tonight?"

"About to find out now, talk to you later. I don't want my phone to die", she said.

"Okay bye"

"Bye", Asia hangs up and puts her phone in her pocket.

Suddenly a guy walks up to Asia.

"Hey ma", he said.

Asia looks at him then away, "I'm not in the mood for talking right now".

"How come?", he said.

"I don't know you like that, so please stay out of my business", she said.

"Can I at least get your name?", he asked?

"Nah", she said. "Leave me alone"

Asia continued to walk down the sidewalk as the guy stops to make a call. "Ay Josh... I found her... you know that strip club on North Ave? ... yea, she came out of there.. iight boss". The guy hung up and followed Asia from a distance.

30 minutes later Asia sits down to rest her feet and looks over to see the same guy that was trying to ask for her name and gets nervous. Suddenly a car drives up in front of her. A car she never saw before so she got up and started to walk away but another guy came from another direction and stood in front of her. She turned around to go the other way, forgetting about the other guy and became blocked in by the two. Josh got out the car and opened the passengers door for you. Asia had no choice but to get in and she did. Josh shut the door and got in the drivers' seat and started driving.
