Shawn, still lying in a heap on the floor (but now in the kitchen), got the urge to call John Turner, his legal guardian (perhaps it was what Cory said). After all, Turner was technically his dad by law. Who knows? Maybe he will have some wise words to sooth his soul. Shawn reached for the phone on the table, wondering every second if calling his dad will help or hinder the situation. He dialed the number...It rang. Turner picked up.
"Hey, pal. How's it hangin'?"
"Turner, my life has fallen, and it can't get up."
"Oh, I see what you did there...Wait...what do you mean? Is Maya alright? You? Katy? Who's hurt and where?"
"No, nothing like that...just listen...I can't..."
Shawn's voice broke. He couldn't continue when his heart was aching this much.
"Shawn? What's up? Seriously? You're making me nervous. I'm sweating here."
Shawn could only sob into the phone.
"Oh my...Hey, it'll be alright. I'll be right there. Hold on." Turner hung up the phone.
"No John it's...too late...He's coming over here. He's gonna see me like this. Maya's gonna be here. Oh no. I need to gather my composure before Maya gets home...Maya? How should I break the news to her? She's going to be so crushed and confused..."
"Hey, dad." Maya came to sit beside Shawn on the kitchen floor.
"Maya. How long have you been there?"
"Sorry to say, but like that whole phone call."
"Why didn't you say something?"
"I was listening."
"So in listening, what did you hear?"
"That...well, that you're upset...mom didn't come home yet, huh?"
Shawn couldn't speak anymore. He just put the letter in Maya's hand, then looked away. Maya took a long stare at it without opening it. She knew what it said already. She didn't have to read it.
"No, I'm not reading this. I already know what it says. It says mom is gone forever this time, and I'm never getting her back. We're all alone. We're all we have."
"That's right."
Shawn just put his hand softly on her shoulder, letting her feel the weight of the world. If only he could have managed to carry that weight by himself...He would have done it in a heartbeat.
Turner burst through the door, out of breath and very sweaty.
"Hey, you two. Tell me what's wrong. The suspense is killing me." He realized the gravity of the situation when he saw the two folded into each other, softly crying. He came to sit down beside them. He put his arms around them both, not knowing exactly what was wrong. Shawn handed him the letter too.
The three felt so alone, yet so at peace at the same time, knowing that since they had each other, things would get better.
~What do you all think of this so far? I wanted to set it up where it was mainly about Shawn and Maya, but also giving you more of Shawn and Turner (because BMW neglected to give us more of John Turner-c'mon, we want to see their bond, right?)...Don't worry, I will bring in Lucas, Farkle, Auggie, Josh, and Topanga...and of course more of Cory and Riley and ERIC (Mr. Plays with Squirrels)! Just let me get there! Gotta set it up! :) Thank you for reading! UPDATES: I will try to keep ongoing updates every week to two weeks. I want to see where this goes, don't you? We want to see more GMW/BMW action. The angst is real. Get your episodes right here.
