*Cemetery* - Shawn's POV

Suddenly, a breeze picked up out of nowhere, pulling him out of his thoughts. He decided to go for a walk through the graves to clear his head. He never got to see where his dad was buried, so he figured he would go searching for him. He didn't know how many hours had passed until he found his dad's grave, but he eventually did.

Seeing his dad's name engraved in the ground caused an intense hatred to rise up inside of him. He lunged himself at the grave with all his might, kicking away the leaves and rocks that covered the majority of the pearly stone. He then knelt in front of it, bowing his head low, and allowed his tears to wash the remaining grime off the stone. A curiosity began to pull at him, making his hands move on their own. He began to brush away more leaves to reveal a message engraved under his dad's name. The words struck him:

"Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;

If I make my bed in hell, you are there. ~Psalm 139"

"Yeah, I'm in hell alright, and I've made my bed in it too...God, if you're there, just tell me. Make me know I'm not alone. You wouldn't leave me too, would you? Everyone hates me...I don't even know what to do anymore..."

Shawn felt a strange peace that blanketed him as he curled up beside his dad's grave. Only a few moments passed before he fell asleep. Just when he had drifted off, he felt a nudge at his side. He moaned. Another nudge, and another came, until finally Shawn sat up to see what was going on.

He craned his neck and glared upward with the sun shining in his eyes. "Dad?"

"Son, long time, no see." Chet knelt down next to Shawn and gave him a hug. Shawn was too stunned to break away. "It's so good to see ya again, pal. I just wish I could stay here forever with you. I miss you so much."

"But...but why would you want to stay with me now when you never cared to stay when you were on earth?"

"People change...and I realized too late that a boy needs his father more than a husband needs his wife. I'm sorry. I wish I could make it up to you better, but this is all the Big Guy upstairs would let me do."

"Well, you can just go right back to where you came from. You belong in hell with all the rest of the dads who didn't want their kids."

"No. You got me all wrong, son. I've always loved you and wanted you. I just didn't know how to show it. I deeply regret that now...Anyway, I just wanted you to know I care and that you should go back home to where you belong. Run along now."

Before Shawn could protest, Chet vanished in the same way he appeared, leaving him feeling somehow more alone than before.
