A 'normal' day

It’s been a few years since I joined the Weasleys. Arthur gave me a blue collar which had a large gold bell on it and a tag with my name engraved in it along with the address. They had given me a soft blue bed and scratching post.

I rarely fought with Percy anymore but I could see his arrogant personality coming out.

Despite only being one, Fred and George were too little mischief makers. Everything they had, had their initials on.

I often tried to correct their clothing choice as they got the boys mixed up but they usually didn’t realise what I was doing so I would change the clothes myself.

I spent most of my nights in Charlie’s room, not only because my bed was in that room, but because Charlie was my second favourite Weasley, after Ron of course.

I found Molly’s and Arthur’s room best to avoid past 11 O’clock and Fred’s and George’s a little too noisy. Percy didn’t trust me near his rat and Bill would spend a lot of his nights staring out his window.

I wonder down the corridors as I finished my night time routine. I had put Fred and George back to sleep. Turned off the lights in Percy’s room and was walking to Bill’s room.

I saw him sitting by the window as I jumped beside him. I let out a small meow as I rubbed against his side.

He let out a small sigh as he lifted his hand and stroked my head. I purred happily as I used some of my magic to make him feel drowsy.

He let out a yawn as he curled up. Noticing he had fallen asleep, I levitated him up and onto his bed, tucking him in.

Leaving, I quickly headed to Charlie’s room, finding him in an uneasy sleep. I jumped onto his bed as I curled up beside him. He slowly brought me closer as he closed his eyes again.

Nothing really changed as I woke up for the morning.

I carefully got out of Charlie’s arms and went down stairs.

I watched Molly come down to cook as she set the table.

Arthur came down first as he quickly sat down. Molly gave him his food as he ate before getting up. He said a quick goodbye to his wife before giving her a kiss and running out to his job.

Bill came down a few minutes later dragging a tired Charlie along with him.

Percy made his own way as Molly quickly plated up before going to get Fred and George.

She gave the boys their food and gave me some cut up fish which I purred at.

Naturally, Fred and George made a mess as Percy grimace at the splattered food, Bill and Charlie only laughed as they ate.

Once I finished, I jumped onto Charlie’s lap as he petted me.

Molly laughed as she took Fred and George upstairs to give them a bath.

Percy left to go to his room as Bill, Charlie and I went to the living room.

Bill brought out a book as Charlie brought out a cat toy which had a mouse attached to the rod by a bit of string. Charlie held onto the rod as he dangled it in front of me. A first I refused to use any of the toys but I couldn’t resist as the mouse came into view.

My eyes focused instantly as I poised to pounce. I leaned back as I tried to catch the mouse. I happily swung my paws at it while purring uncontrollably.

Charlie chuckled at me as I caught the mouse and looked at him. He leaned down and stroked my head as I leaned into the touch, forgetting about the mouse trapped under my paws.

Laughing, Charlie quickly pulled the mouse up as I refocused and tried to catch the toy.

I didn’t really notice Molly entering the room and giving the twins to Bill, only noticing when they pulled on my tail.

I let out a pained screech as Fred laughed.

I gave him a disappointed scowl but sighed as I curled around him. I pretended to attack him as we played. George giggled at my display as Fred laughed.

I jumped off the small child as I rubbed against George before going back to playing with Charlie and the mouse.

At about midday, Molly came downstairs as she prepared lunch, Percy coming down a little after.

The rest of the day stayed the same until dinner came around.

Molly had cooked the food as we waited for Arthur to come home.

The night drew out but Arthur did not come. Molly started to pace and I could tell how afraid she was.

Percy wasn’t too bothered believing that his father would come home, and, Fred and George were too young to understand what was happening. Bill was worriedly watching out the window and Charlie was trying to keep calm but I could tell he was worried too.

“Stop worrying, mum. Dad will be back soon,” Percy said with announce thick in his voice.

“Percy!” Bill shouted while glaring at his younger brother.

I jumped up as I sat on Molly lap, her having collapsed on a sofa. “He has to come back, our funds won’t cover 5 children, let alone 6, a cat and a rat,” Molly mumbled to herself as my ears perked up.

Ron? Ron was coming! I meowed happily as I rubbed against her stomach. I always hoped I could grow up with Ron, even if I was just his pet cat.

I knew Arthur would be alright as he makes it to when Ron and I were in our third year, so that means he has to survive.

We waited for his return as I tried to keep my family calm and happy.

Slowly, as the night went on, Molly was forced to feed her family as they ate sombrely.

It was past midnight when the door opened. Instantly, Molly was up as she pulled Arthur into a tight hug.

He was a little battered and had a small bruise on his check but other than that he seemed fine.

“Please, don’t do that! I can’t do this without you,” Molly begged as she silently cried.

“I’m sorry. Remember I will always come back to you, I promise.”
