I paced up and down the tent as we waited for Dumbledore.

Moody had tried to strategies with me but I was avoiding him. I knew something was wrong with him but I couldn’t place it. I felt like I knew him, but he didn’t look familiar.

I jumped at the hissing coming from the side as I spun quickly. “Harry, is that you?” I relaxed at Moine’s voice as I walked to the side, ready to greet her.

“Yeah.” I answered quietly.

“Your plan is going to work, right?” I recognised the worry in her voice as I thought about my answer.

“Should be a show,” I joked as I let out a small laugh.

I jumped as Moine pulled into a tight hug. I couldn’t react as a blinding flash assaulted my eyes and Rita walked into view, while saying something I didn’t catch.

“You’re not welcome here. This tent is for champions and friends,” Viktor snapped as Rita back down from the angry Bulgarian.

“Oh well, I got what I came for.” Rita stated before leaving.

I smiled shyly at Viktor as Dumbledore entered the room. “Alright champions this is the moment we’ve been waiting for. In a circle.” We silently walked into a huddle as Dumbledore looked at each of us. “Ganger? What are you doing here?” He asked in shock.

Moine stumbled over her words as she quickly left, apologising all the way.

Barty Crouch showed us a bag, as one by one we picked out our dragon. Fleur got Common Welsh Green, Viktor got Chinese Fireball and Cedric got the Swedish Short-Snout. That left me with the one I had been warned about, the Hungarian Horntail.

Cedric was due to go first as he turned to leave. He was meant to start with the sound of the cannon but Filch sounded it early.

Cedric turned a rock into a dog to distract the dragon but half way through the dragon turned back to him and burned part of his face.

Fleur enchanted the dragon to fall asleep but while retrieving the egg the dragon snored and set her skirt a fire.

Viktor used the Conjunctivitis Curse to blind the dragon and retrieved the egg but he had some points removed as the dragon stumbled over and destroyed some of the real eggs.

With everyone done it became my turn. I couldn’t stop my mind from going over every little detail. Everything that could go wrong. This was going to end badly.

I didn’t realise it was my turn until the crowds cheered my name.

I shyly walked into the arena as I spotted the golden egg I had to collect.

I shakenly walked towards it but barely got two steps before the dragon appeared.

I quickly duked as she attacked me. I hid behind one of the rocks as the blazing inferno heated up my surroundings.

Closing my eyes I took a deep breath. I could feel my magic swirling calmly around me. I could hear everything but nothing at the same time. I could see everything and nothing. I could feel everything and yet nothing. I was at peace but I was a burning ball of chaos.

With a final breath, I muttered the charm I had learnt off by heart, “In burning fire, freezing water and endless skies, come to my aid and change this moment in time.”

The air slowed, the people slowed and the dragon slowed. All sound muted as I stood up and walked calmly to the dragon’s side. I gently stroked his shining scales as I walked past him to the egg.

I knelt at the nest as I looked through the fake egg. I ran my fingertips over its gold coating.

Knowing I could affect the world like this, I took a deep breath and released the spell.

Instantly, the dragon spun to attack me as I grabbed the egg and ran. Deciding to put my training to good use, I shrunk the egg to fit in my pocket before dodging another blast of fire.

Unable to get the right headframe I was unable to use the same spell as I ran towards the exit. I managed to dodge another blast which scorch my arm before letting out a hiss. Hiding, I grabbed onto the boiling flesh as I tried to hide the pain I felt.

Noticing the crowds watching me, I smiled. I think it’s time to start to true show. I pushed myself up, quickly glancing the teachers and officials before running for the final dash. I could feel the heat coming at me as I turned, diving into the flame.

As the smoke cleared I was gone.

I heard chatter escape as panic engulfed the teachers. I looked at Moody one last time before sneaking away for the rest of the plan.

Eventually, the students left the arena. Without any idea of where Harry went or how he did it, the teachers didn’t have another option.

Speculations flow around but no one came close to the truth. Only one knew how it was done and he had no plans of ruining his friend’s secret.

However, he did make sure to keep people off the track by sprouting nonsensical ideas.

By the time everyone got back to their common rooms, the ideas and theories had gone completely off the rails.

“Ah, you’re finally back!” Harry exclaimed as he came down the stairs while holding a book in his hand.

“How did you get there?” Neville asked as he pointed at the other.

“Trick of the embroidery trade. What the teachers say?” Harry joked as he sat on the couch next to Ron.

“Nothing really, they wanted to know how you did it.” Hermione stated simply.

“Enough of that rubbish,” The twins stated together as they leaned over the couch. “Did you get the egg?” The asked as Harry pulled out the egg and resized it back to normal.

“Go on, open it.” Dean suggested as Harry hesitated but opened it nevertheless.

A horrid screech sounded around the room as Harry quickly closed it again.

“They’re not happy.” He joked while smiling brightly.

“Guess not,” Ron replied as they burst out laughing.

Moody entered his room with a scowl. He collapsed in his old chair and removed his fake leg.

It was quiet, too quiet.

The screaming had stopped.
