Connell came and put eggs on everyone's plates and a big bowl of bacon in the middle of the table and then sat across from me with a scowl on his face. The breakfast was actually very nice and the rest of the family joined us slowly. They didn't have eggs though.
"Thank you for breakfast Specs." I said washing my plate.
"It's ok." He mumbled from the table.
He didn't speak to me for the rest of the day and eventually, as it got later, everyone started buzzing because of the beach bonfire. Chase left with Dale a bit early because he said his friends were going to be there earlier.
"Are you excited?" Max asked as we walked to our rooms.
"Yeah, I guess a bit,"
"You can meet Bumblebee and Satellite," he said stopping outside his door.
"Who?"
"Stevie and Conor," he smiled.
"That's what you guys call them?"
"Yeah, they're our best friends,"
"Ah I see,"
"Oh and I think my friend Hawkeye might be there too,"
"Hawkeye?" I asked, trying not to laugh.
"Yeah, he does state archery." Max said quietly smiling.
As I reached my door, I glanced at Connell's room and saw him at his cupboard, choosing clothes.
"Connell?"
He turned around to look at me but quickly turned back to his cupboard.
"Hey?" I tried getting his attention as he threw shirts onto his bed.
"What?" He said blankly.
"Um, I just, I know it's your birthday on Sunday and I wanted to know if you're excited?" I was really just trying to find an excuse to get him to talk to me.
"I guess," he said coldly.
"Ok, well uh –''
"Ugh, I don't know what to wear!" He yelled, throwing his last shirt on his bed.
"Do you want a girl's opinion?" I asked carefully looking at his shirts sprawled on his bed.
"I don't know, do I?" He asked sarcastically, turning around to look at me.
"Well," I started looking through the shirts. "Are you looking to impress someone?"
He shrugged.
"That helps," I said sarcastically and looked through more shirts. "What about this?" I held up a plain navy blue shirt in front of him and tried to imagine it on him.
"This one?" He looked down at me. We were standing close but I took the shirt away and looked at it by itself. "You don't think it's too plain?"
I shook my head. "I like it,"
He looked at me with a questionable expression.
"It's just a suggestion," I said putting it back on his bed. "Well, see you just now."
Everyone started getting ready and eventually Sawyer told us that we had to get in the cars.
I was standing at the front door, waiting for everyone else with Sawyer and I saw Connell come down the stairs in the shirt I suggested but it was tighter than I imagined.
"You wore it," I nudged him as we walked to the cars.
"You suggested it," he nudged me back. "Does it look ok?"
