"And what is this?"
Connell suddenly jolted awake and pulled the covers up to his face. I pulled myself up so I was half sitting-half lying down.
"Connell?" Aubrey asked with a naughty smile on her face. Her belly bump was growing fast and her face was filling out but she was glowing.
Connell moved the covers away from his face and lazily curled into me, groaning. Aubrey climbed onto the bed and lay with us.
"I hope you used protection," she smirked at me.
"Oh no we didn't – '' Connell suddenly looked up.
"Nothing happened last night – '' I started.
"It's ok, I know teenagers these days, experimenting and stuff, I just don't want you to end up like me, oh and if you hurt my little adopted sister, I'll have to kill you," she said casually whilst rubbing her belly.
Connell looked at me. "Aubrey, I promise we didn't do anything, we were just talking about what happened yesterday and we ended up falling asleep. I respect Celine," I couldn't help but smile as he said that.
"Ok, I believe you." She got up and left without another word.
"And besides you're still recovering from your injuries," he gave a cheeky smirk once Aubrey had closed the door.
"Ha ha, now I'm uncomfortable," I laughed awkwardly.
I put my hand on the back of his head. "If anyone else sees you coming out of my room, we'll see worse interrogations than that."
He gently rested his head on my stomach before lazily crawling out of bed and creeping over to my door. He slowly opened it and peeked into the hall before quickly shutting the door and diving for the opposite side of my bed and hiding on the floor. Not long after, Sampson opened my door with my morning pills I had to take, prescribed by Doctor Melroy.
"Morning! Here you go, Ladybird," he said, putting the tray down on my lap. He had arranged the pills in a smiley face like usual and included a cup of coffee and glass of water this time. "You need to get better now." He said giving me a hug.
"Thanks Junior," I smiled, trying not to laugh because Connell had just dived to the floor next to me.
After the coast was clear, Connell's head appeared beside me. He crawled back onto the bed.
"And now? I thought you were going back to your room?" I said picking up my first small pill and taking a sip of my water.
"It's so much work," he groaned moving my tray off my lap and lying on me, gently resting his head on my chest, the pain wasn't unbearable but I was still sore.
Suddenly he jerked up again. "Hey!"
"What?" I asked, struggling to reach my pills.
"You're my girlfriend," he smirked.
"And?" I asked nonchalantly, popping a third pill in my mouth. It sounded strange being called that.
"And I'm happy," he lay back, putting his hands behind his head and leaning against the headboard.
"Yeah, yeah, now go back to your room before we get caught by your mom."
"Whatever," he kissed my temple and got up to go to the door. "Oh, and you need to get better now." He said, mocking Junior's words. He grinned at me before he slipped out into the hall.
On Friday morning, a certain mood clouded the air; an unpleasant mood that made everyone in the house uncomfortable.
