"What?" Chase asked out-of-breath.
"Let me go!" Sawyer whined. It was funny because Chase was actually bigger than Sawyer who was three years older than him.
"Only if you promise that you won't tell anyone!"
Sawyer didn't say anything.
"Promise!" Chase shoved him into the door again.
"Chase – '' I started walking down the narrow stairs.
"Ok, ok, I promise! I promise!" Sawyer shouted in defeat. Chase reluctantly let go of Sawyer who turned around rubbing his arm.
Chase turned to me as I walked over to them.
"Did you know that Connell has feelings for you?" Chase asked, panting and looking intensely into my eyes.
"No – ''
"What the hell! You kissed me when you knew that my twin has feelings for you!"
"Chase, I – ''
"I may act like a player but I would never hurt my brothers and especially not my twin,"
"What! You leaned in first! Did you not know that your twin had feelings for me?" I retaliated. I could see Sawyer trying to escape quietly. "Detox!" I warned, not breaking eye contact with Chase, so he sat down in one of the two tall armchairs near the door.
"Yeah, I leaned in but you were the one who pushed me away and then kissed me later!"
Something that seemed to be making itself a common vice.
"I only did it so you could get it out of your system!"
I could see Sawyer sitting uncomfortably in the armchair behind Chase.
"Well, news flash, Celine, if you kiss a guy who likes you, it isn't going to get it out of their system...it's just going to put it more into their system than before!"
"Stop yelling, for Pete's sake!" Sawyer shouted from behind us. Chase turned around and glared at him.
"Do you have feelings for him?" Chase asked. He turned around with his arms crossed and his head turned to the floor.
"I don't know." I whispered.
Silence filled the room.
"Ok, I'm sorry,"
"I'm not," Chase said quietly. My head shot up. "Yeah!" He threw his hands up in defeat. "I'm not sorry that you kissed me but if Connell finds out then you will be very sorry," he warned. He turned and looked at Sawyer again. "You better not f-ing tell anyone otherwise I will cut your dick off and make you eat it!" Sawyer's eyes went wide.
"That's not very nice," I mumbled.
"Yeah, it's not!" Sawyer retorted, getting up. "Threaten me again and I will tell the whole family!" He opened the door to the library. "I'm still older you know!" He shouted as he closed the door behind him.
Chase turned back to me and just sighed. "Shit,"
"Chase, look...I am really sorry, I didn't realize that it would make it worse. I'm new to this whole thing,"
"It's ok," he rubbed his face. "It's ok – I didn't mean to shout," he said slumping down in the armchair Sawyer was in.
"That's ok," I mumbled, slumping down in the chair next to his. There was silence between us for what felt like ages.
I could see Chase's head roll to the side and I could feel his eyes on me while I stared ahead at the huge bookcase in front of us.
"Ah, screw it." Chase launched himself up and I had no time to react. I felt his hands cup my face and here we were again. His lips smashed against mine as he lifted me from my chair, sat down in it and sat me on top of him.
It was my own fault that I didn't pull away.
