Narrator (the same day)

Ava walked out of her room and she looked around seeing no one

They were mostly always down stairs, but only when Nicole was cooking, which she wasn't

She was still out at her parents house

"How's Ava?" Nicole's dad asked "she doing fine, she's just a little moody" nicole said "it's probably that time of the month for her" Nicole moms said "yea, probably" Nicole said as she looked for avas crop tops and sweats

It was very hot during the day, maybe about 86 degrees

But once it was night, the house got freezing cold

Back at the Fairchild resident

Ava was watching over flora as she skipped through the garden

"Can we pick flowers for the empty vases?" Flora asked "where are the vases?" Ava asked not ever seeing a vase in the house

"It's one in miles' room, it's filled with black dead flowers" she said and Ava felt weird "um-sure" Ava said while not wanting to say no

"Let's get the pink one!" Flora said happily and Ava walked behind the girl and they started picking flowers

After picking almost every flower out of the garden they were ready to head back in the make the house look more happier

Especially Ava, she wanted the house to look happier, after what happened between her and miles

She just wants him to open up more and care about people's feelings, but he's going the opposite way, he's going further from the state she wanted him to be at

They entered the house and flora placed the flowers on the counter

"Ava, can you get the vase, I-I don't want to go to miles' room" flora said and Ava frowned seeing the little girl scared "sure, I'll be right back" Ava said "be careful" flora said and Ava smiled lightly

Ava walked up the stairs not wanting to enter miles room, she didn't want to face him, it was gonna be even more awkward for her to just go in his room and ask for his vase

It was a weird thing to do but she only wanted to keep flora occupied

She lightly knocked on the door and it opened harshly and quickly

She looked up to see miles eyes staring at her with a straight face

"What do you want?" Miles asked "um, flora and I picked flowers and I was wondering if we can have your vase for the flowers" Ava said while avoiding his eyes "no" he said and he was about to close the door but something in Ava stopped him

"Miles-I'm trying to make flora happy and make her forget about what you did to me" she said and miles glared at her "don't try to put this on me" he said "well maybe if you weren't abus-" Ava stopped herself to see miles glare turn into a frown

Miles was genuinely upset with himself, he hated that he made his sister scared, he hated how he put Ava in so much pain

"I'm sorry miles, you just need to open up and stop being a jerk, don't let those stupid voices ruin you, miles I can tell that you're beautiful inside and out, but you're letting those voices ruin something so beautiful" Ava let out with her heart

"Here" miles said while walking over to the vase and handing it to her "thank you" she said and miles nodded and watched as she walked away

He closed the door and sat on his bed and thought of what she said

He wanted to open up more

He wanted to let her know how he felt at all times but he didn't want her to get attached to him, he knew it'll all get bad for her

He knew the voices wasn't going to let him have a girlfriend

It wasn't going to be easy, but he was willing to fight back

Ava and flora watched as the clear vase fill up with water

"These are gonna die in 2 days, flor" Ava said with a laugh and flora smiled "but we can help them so they can't" she smiled "yea, we can plant new ones" they both heard miles' voice and they turned around and face him "yea! We can plant more flowers" flora said getting happy at the idea

She was so focus on the flowers she couldn't even fear her brother

"What are you doing?" Ava whispered to him with a smile "I'm opening up, showing what's beautiful" he whispered back making Ava smile widened

"Tell me...more about yourself" Ava said while sitting on counter as mikes stood and watch flora play with the flowers

"Well...I got expelled from a boarding school so now I currently don't have a school to attend once summer is over" miles said "why'd you get expelled?" Ava asked "it's-something I can't talk about-but why'd you stay here? Wasn't mrs grose supposed to be here?" Mikes asked and Ava heart dropped

"Umm-miles" Ava said and she intertwined her fingers with his and he looked down at their hands and back up to her eyes

"I'm sorry..." she said and his heart started beating fast

The last time he heard those words come out in that tone was when he found out his guardian was now ms grose because he lost his parents

"Don't tell me..." miles said with his eyes watering

He didn't really care, that's what his brain; the voices were telling him

You didn't even care for her

She wasn't even your mom

It all ran through his head, but he still cried

It was his guardian, the closes thing to his mom

Ava opened her arms for the boy and he excepted the hug weakly

She wrapped her arms around his neck as he stood between her legs with his head on her shoulder; she felt as the tears fell on her shirt

"What's wrong?" Flora asked as she saw he brother cry into avas shoulder

This was the first time for her seeing her brother cry, she was so confused to what happened

She thought about how he was happy a minute ago

"Ms grose is on a long break" miles said as they pulled away from the hug "for how long?" Flora asked "for a very long time, flor" Ava spoke
