Gabriel must have been gawking at Malphas for a long time because he started to smirk annoyingly, and his broad but relaxed shoulders were a distraction.

“I don’t get it,” she murmured, eyebrows furrowing.

Malphas’s smirk vanished. He had a grim look on his face as he answered, “That boy used to be Lucifer’s right hand before me. And it seems like he’s planning something on taking back his title.”

She considered it for a moment. Of course there’d still be competition over the position. But it made her wonder: what if that boy could actually help her? What if he also knows a way to the deeper levels of hell?

“Don’t even think about it.” Malphas’s firm tone held a warning. It wasn’t friendly.

Gabriel smiled innocently at him.

“I know what you’re thinking. I won’t let you.”

“Why not?” she asked mischievously.

He didn’t respond at first. He seemed to ponder things in his head, and while he was busy with his thoughts, Gabriel couldn’t help but notice his messy dark hair; it was going on in different directions, and Gabriel had to stop herself from thinking about it to avoid direct contact with the demon himself who was currently having a dilemma.

“He plays dirty. You will not meet him again. I’ll make sure of it,” he said, his voice menacingly threatening.

Gabriel laughed.

“What are you laughing about?”

“Did you forget? I’m an archangel. You have a curse. You have my kiss. You can’t stop me, Malphy.” She grinned goofily at him, and she knew she was getting on his nerves. Gabriel was observing his clenched fists and clamped jaw – that was his signature I’m-Lucifer’s-right-hand-DIE!

Malphas stood up, his wings spreads out wide, and then it engulfed Gabriel. She was surprised and confused. Malphas’s wings covered her, its feathers stroking her skin as if it was fragile. She couldn’t help but shudder. All she wanted to do was lean in and let it consume her.

She realized it was a cursed wings, it would be troublesome if she would be caught by it.

“You are still naïve, Little Angel.” He stared at her with intensity, taking in every part of her body and Gabriel fought with the rolling waves of emotions coming from him. It was impossible for a demon to feel something. One of the powers of the cursed wings was that once it touched her, it conveyed the feelings, emotions, and thoughts of its user, which was Malphas. Gabriel felt his desire. She felt his anger. She knew that it was giving him pleasure – the whole wings of his touching her skin.

The concept of the wings was very complex. As much as it was cursed, everything in contact directs the message from one another, meaning, Malphas could also feel her feelings and emotions. Since demons had no regard for human life and were emotionless, the cursed wings serve as the conductor. Angels were full of feelings, and the cursed wings clings to any source of emotions. The wings could only obey its master once it was done feeding from Gabriel’s emotions.
