Angel's eyes fall back to my resume for what feels like the thousandth time. Lord I can't tell if this is going well or not. "I'll be honest- this looks stellar. Not only do you have training as a vet, but you have front desk knowledge." She muses with a thoughtful expression. "It seems like you'd be a great fit- I'm not going to make any decisions right away." Angel offers me a small smile, her eyes a mixture of insecurity and approval. I wonder if I've done anything to make it hard.

I smile and nod. "I get it, please take all the time you need- I want this job, but I also want it to be a good fit for everyone." I'd like to make more friends- working with a friend always sounds so nice. I'm sure that's in theory and that's where things stop- but I'd like to learn that lesson for myself. May regret that later.

"How long have you been in town? I don't think I've seen you around." She offers as she closes my resume and drops it on the hospital bed. My brows pinch together in thought as I pause.

"I want to say it's been about three weeks? I'll be honest, my freedom has left me not paying attention to the days as they go by." I admit sheepishly to her, it's been so nice to not be constrained by my mother or Martin for that matter. It's like a breath of fresh air has been breathed in my lungs. Time has flown by living in town, much more so since I've met Snake. I really need to start looking for a place to buy. As nice as the motel is- I'd like to have a bit more of a home than a one room space.

She hums with interest as her hand falls to belly, caressing her bump with the utmost care. "Where did you originally live? Snake said you were from the city." It's her turn to pause as she offers a sheepish grin. "If I'm too nosey you can tell me to piss off- I won't be mad." I have to laugh and shake my head at her, her sense of humor is something else and I'm becoming more and more entertained by it. I can see why Axel is smitten with her.

"I used to live in New York- I often traveled for work with Martin. I was his personal assistant for five years."

"Oh that's cool, where did you work?" I want to grumble at the question and not answer. I'm not very proud of my time with the shady company and all of their dealings. Lord was that a mistake.

"I used to work for Martin and Son's, they are a big time corporate investment agency." Or just a fraud. While I never cared enough to dig and find any evidence against actual crimes- I could tell something was off. All of their shady dealings and after hours meetings never really sat right with me. Not to mention who all came into the office for 'private' meetings.

"I don't think I've heard of it." She offers with a shrug as I snort and shake my head.

"Trust me, it's for the best. Martin Rogers is a crooked man without a moral in sight. He's not a man you ever want in your circle of friends." Not that you could call business friend groups. He's a man that would quickly trade a life for a few extra dollars.

"Aren't most businessmen up that way shady?" She asks with an amused note in her voice. We look at one another before short laughs slip out. I think we can make this work quite nicely. It's been so long since I've had friendly female company. All the women I met when working with Martin had one goal- become his assistant to get in his pants. I'm sure they were able to get in his pants quite easily.

My thoughts are abruptly shut off by the sound of claws on the door, a deep chuckle sounds as the door is opened, quickly pushed open by an adorable familiar face. I grin as Dozer glances around for a moment, his wag increases as he sees Angel. "Dozer! How's my buddy?" I call in my cuddle call earning his attention as his wag turns into his full body dance of happiness. His paws slap against the floor in his excitement as he pounces on me, dropping his heavy paws onto my lap.
