"Goodness, Sarah, are you alright? What has you under the desk?" Kathy's sweet voice drifts from in front of the desk and I can hear her steps near the desk. Tentatively I touch the top of my head and cringe at the warm bump. At least there's no blood. I ease out from under the desk, this time mindful of the hard surface and stand.
"I'm fine just brained myself, I had to clean up my spilled tea." I blush as I watch both Kathy and the man I had heard before. Of course he has to be a handsome devil, great first impression. The large man chuckles and gives a shake of his head, his hazel eyes glitter with laughter. Sun kissed brunette sits atop his head in a wealth, neatly trimmed down to what looks like a purposeful messy bedhead look. An amused grin covers his rugged features, straw handsome features. He looks like a sex God.
"Son of balls, ehh?" I shut my eyes in embarrassment and grimace before I offer a sheepish smile. Yeah not my best moment. I open my eyes with a nod and a shrug, as if I can play it off cool. I'm sure that ship has sailed.
"I prefer to curse in private, not public." I watch as his eyes glitter and a naughty glint appears in his eyes before he smirks.
"Oh you're into that stuff are ya?" Kathy chuckles and shakes her head amused as I stare at him in confusion. What is that- My eyes pop open as I blush and feel a sudden rush of fire straight to my core.
"You're something else." She shakes her head with a smile before she waves her hand towards Snake oblivious to the innuendo. "I wanted you to meet my Grandson, Hun-"
"Snake." He corrects her before she can finish his name. Of course he has to be too hot for his own good and I had to do something comical before I even saw him.
"The pleasure is all mine; care to explain how I've gone all of my life without knowing someone as pretty as yourself?" I watch as he leans against the counter with a smirk covering his features. His eyes travel the length of my body- all that he could see of it anyway. A shocked laugh slips past my lips as I shake my head, a smile firmly planted on my lips. Oh please, this man could do way better.
"That was cheesy and you know it. I'd think you would have some better pick up lines tucked in your back pocket." I can't help it as I tease him back even while my belly does a flip. What am I getting into? Kathy grins as her eyes bounce between us, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Snake gets it from her.
"Did you want to step out for lunch? I didn't see you bring your lunch today Sarah." I shake my head and bend down to grab the sopping mess of paper towels scented by my tea. Such a waste. I want nothing more than to pout as I toss the wet paper towels away. That was almost a full cup of tea too.
"No thank you, I'm fine. I really need to head to the grocery store to get something to cook." I really shouldn't waste the little money I do make on take-out. I grumble and sanitize my sticky hands, the floor doubt no doubt shares a similar fate.
"Oh what do you cook?" I glance up with a look that I'm sure resembles a deer in headlights.
"I could burn water, so I'm still on a journey to figure that out myself." Stoves scare me, so microwave food is the smartest. My mind goes back to the time when I was fourteen and firefighters had to show up because of the stove fire I made. Not something I care to repeat.
"I'm sure you could learn if you had the right teacher." Snake chuckles as he watches me with a slight grin. They would have to have the patience of a saint and then some. It's my turn to laugh and shake my head.
"I wish whoever that person is, a lot of luck- they'll need the patience of a saint." If someone could do that, I'd worship the ground they walk on. Cooking is a necessity, especially when you are trying to live on a budget. Sadly cooking has always been one of the many talents to elude me- I don't I'll ever get it down. If only I could.
