Thank you for reading!
---"I'm just saying, I don't think it's a good idea!"
"Well I'm doing it! He's a nice guy, I don't understand why your so against him."
Nepal sighed. He didn't like this. He didn't like Bangladesh going out with this guy. Or him going out with anyone at all. It made him really worried and uncomfortable in a way he couldn't explain. More worried than he would be about his monster coming out.
"Nepal, I'll be alright. Please let me go."
Nepal sighed. He was being rather dramatic about this. Bangladesh was almost out the door and Neal stood in the doorway, arms and legs out to block him from leaving.
Maybe...maybe I should just let him go.
Nepal let out a defeated sigh and nodded, lowering his arms and stepping to the side for his friend to pass by.
Bangladesh smiled at him and patted his cheek to comfort him.
"Its just to the park and some lunch. I'll be back okay? Bye, Pal."
"...bye."
And then he was put the door. Nepal was left to watch out the window as Bangladesh got into his date's car and drove away. He shook in worry.
"God, why is this such a big dam deal to me? I should be happy for him!" Nepal sat down in front of the door, his back against it. He sighed, "...Then again, I mean I guess I've always been kind of upset at the idea that he might find someone better than me."
Nepal was a pretty good kid. Perhaps a bit of a nervous wreck, but he cherished his friends, and always tried to keep them happy. Despite his monster, he usually managed to keep his calm. Hell, he might jump at the chance to make Bangladesh happy, even in this case. But, he didn't. And why?
Maybe he thought Bangladesh deserved someone better. Someone who really knew him. Someone who could make him smile and laugh and protect him in a way that Nepal felt nobody could live up to.
Someone kind of like me, he thought.
And that's when he stopped thinking. For a full minute, his mind shut down, and he realized exactly what it was he'd implied to himself. That he thought only he could ever be the one for Bangladesh. Was her wrong for thinking that? Was that selfish? But it felt right in thinking so.
He spent about five minutes contemplating his feelings before deciding...fuck it. He's known Bangladesh for forever! If he didn't feel the same way, it's not like he'd shoot him down rudely and cast him out of his life or anything.
Nepal frowned at that, but he shook his head, trying to get those negative thoughts out. No, he needed to go ahead and say what he needed to say.
Where did Bangladesh say he was going? The park, right.
He went to the side of the house to grab his bike, and started cycling all the way to the park.
About nine minutes passed and he'd arrived. Hopefully, not too late.
He searched wherever he could, and almost thought about leaving, when he spotted Bangladesh and his date actually leaving the park!
"Hol- Ladesh! Hold up! Wait, please!"
Bangladesh was just about to get in the car, when Nepal's yelling finally got his attention.
"Pal? What are you--?"
"Bangladesh, please come home, I--" he paused when he saw his date, who he now recognized as Bhutan.
Said country looked very perplexed by Nepal's arrival, if not a little wary. The two had had some minor disagreements a while back that had caused Nepal's monster to come out. So, from now on, the two tended to stay away from each other.
"Nepal! I told you, I'll be home soon! But, I busy right now, so just go home!"
"You can't date this guy!"
"Why not?!"
"Because...be-because, I, I..."
Bangladesh's glare softened when he saw how nervous his friend was getting. And in turn, so was his date.
"W-hey, it's okay Pal, take your time. What is it?"
"I don't want you to date him. I don't want you to date anyone, nobody but me!"
Bangladesh's face flushed, "wha-"
"I really like you, Ladesh! I...it took a long time for me to realize it, but I do! It hurts me to see you with anyone else, so please!"
Nepal's shoulders shook with the building anxiety, and Bangladesh's instincts as his best friend took over. He put his hands on Nepal's arms and rubbed them up and down in a soothing manner. He made soft cooing sounds and quiet shushing sounds, all to help his friend's nerves.
Bangladesh bit his lip. He still had yet to give an answer. He lifted Nepal's head, which hung low, to look him in the eye.
"Nepal, listen to me. Go home, and by the time I come back, I'll have an answer for you. Okay? But you have to promise me, you'll wait for me, and stay home."
Nepal was almost sure that that meant "no," but he didn't want to make Bangladesh more angry. So he nodded, and got back on his bike, and rode home.
When Nepal arrived back home, the first thing he did was wash his face, as he'd been crying a little on his way back. He didn't want Bangladesh to worry too much. He knew he would. And then he sat on a chair and stared, waiting, just as he'd promised.
About half an hour later, the door clicked open, and Nepal damn near jumped out of his skin. But he stayed glued to his seat, not wanting to seem too eager, and possibly get his hopes up.
Bangladesh came in looking happy, and when he saw Nepal, his smile faltered. Nepal's heart skipped a beat.
"Pal, hi. I'm back."
"I know."
Bangladesh bit his lip, "Bhutan and I went to eat. It was nice, he was nice. I really like him."
Nepal's heart shattered.
So he really prefers him, huh?
"But," Bangladesh continued, "I kind of stopped it in the middle of it. I just had to tell him...there's someone else."
Wait...is it?
"I like you too, Nepal. I have for so long. I didn't think you-- I didn't know you would feel the same."
Nepal immediately rushed his friend(?) and scooped him up for a hug.
"Nepal!"
Nepal, meanwhile, just cheered to himself and spun around while hugging his best friend/new boyfriend.
