My birthday.
That was all Robbie could talk about. He was nerding out as he put it. He was doing additional work so no one would disrupt our time together.
I pretended to be annoyed at him but inside I was a melting.
I could not wait. I had no idea where he was taking me. And I loved surprises. We were talking and texting less but he always made time for me at night before sleeping. I did not want him to over exert himself but Robbie was a man on mission.
Jason was a mess.
It did not help that his finals were going on and with the big project done from my side, he was running around like a headless chicken. I was ready to wait but he said something about matching dates and whatever I had no idea about.
So, I let him do his thing and he let me force feed him.
Liz, Jason and I crashed in either mine or her room. Jason shared his apartment with another four guys and it was not an ideal place to study.
Liz was more fun to be around. She made sure we were studying when we were not. She carried pocket sized notes with her and we would talk and go through them while eating or chilling. She was creative and focused like that. She worked real hard.
Studying took a big chunk of my life. I zoned out most of the time in studies but I was in better condition than other two. The exams were going on easy enough, Liz was happy with her questions, so was I.
When the weekend came I was giddy with nerves.
Few more days to go before Robbie came and took me away. I wanted to spend time with my mom but I was ecstatic to meet Robbie.
He said it would be just two of us. He thought of hiring a chef but since I knew how to cook delicious food he dropped that idea as well. I had already told him about visiting mom during the weekend.
He was sad he could not come but it was better that way. He would be distraction, and we both knew it.
I was to be only his in two days. So he was not that sad.
Time was going so slow on Saturday. We were in cabin; mom and I. I could not talk to Robbie like I wished to. I had called but he did not pick up. He texted me about his last minute conference. I was sad for a few seconds but then he added, 'why am I working this hard?' and made me a blushing mush.
He was working for me; for us.
Sunday was a normal until it wasn't. Mom and I was back from our hideout that morning. She had a conference set up but she wanted to spend every second with me. So, that was why I was waiting for her to come out, in her reception area. I texted Robbie though he was not replying, I knew he was reading them. That was enough.
Jason's call interrupted my text rambling to Robbie about the new plant pots mom put in her office; they were my bushy friends.
"Where are you?" He sounded breathless.
"At mom's office. What is wrong?" He was presenting our code to some business sharks these days. Was something wrong with it?
"Nothing, Dave. Send me the location. I am coming there." He hung up the phone.
Okay, so there was something definitely wrong with it. But I had run it countless times before giving it to him. I sent him the address but I was so anxious.
He must have been somewhere close because I saw him running to me without closing the cab door, soon. He had a huge bouquet with him and he was grinning so big. But he started crying when he reached me. He picked me up and swirled me around making me screech.
"What is wrooo....?"
"We did it, Dave. We did it."
He put me and pushed the huge bouquet to my chest. It was not a normal one. It had expensive chocolates wrapped as flowers in between the original ones.
"We did what?"
"We sold our code!!!! We sold our code!!! Guess the amount?"
"500."
He nodded a no. He was sniffling and smiling. That was our agreed amount. So...
"600." There was no way it would exceed that. 600K for a code. It was a big project but...
"A million fucking dollars." He whispered.
"No"
"Yes."
"Noooo."
"Yess..Davidson...yes."
"Million as in 1 and six zeros?"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes, Davidson, yes. I swear on my dick, yes."
I screeched and jumped on him. I screamed again on his ears making him wince.
"Oh my god. Oh my god. Our first million."
"First?" Jason was smug.
"Yes, make me more slave, make me more." I slapped his back for effect.
"What do you mean? You lay the fucking eggs, golden goose. Lay eggs." He laughed.
We were soon hugging and crying right in front of my mom's reception area.
But Jason pulled away sooner than I liked him to. "I have to go."
"Where? Stay. Mom would like to meet you."
"No, I have to go see and inform Liz, personally. Don't spoil the surprise. She is in dorms studying for all of us." Jason ran away giving me a big kiss on the cheeks.
"That is a huge bouquet, Sir." Frankie was looking at me like he was seeing a ghost. He delivered our breakfast and I forgot all about him.
I giggled because I was so happy. I hugged the bouquet and screamed into it.
I could not wait to tell Robbie. I could be a business man too.
Take that I-am-a-self-made-business-man!
Kidding. I was so proud of my Robbie.
