Jason and I were in the gardens going through another load of paper work. Jason was sulking and groaning every once in a while making me giggle.
"I hate paper work!"
I did not. I was okay with paper work; people made me queasy. I had no idea how to read someone's mind like Jason. I always ended up in uncomfortable situations when other humans were involved.
"I hate paper work!"
Twenty fourth time in an hour.
"Am I interrupting?"
I watched Jason opening and closing his mouth but he put on his confident mask so fast.
"No, Mr. Brantley. It is a pleasure."
Robbie nodded and sat opposite to me. "Ace says you are a big fan. That true?"
Jason would kill me!
"Ha...ha, yes. Kind of."
"Kind of a big fan?"
"Well, I do not know you well enough. But from the business point of view, you stand as someone I could follow."
Robert was intimidating Jason by not replying. He continued staring at him but Jason was a pro. He smiled at Robbie and looked happy enough to stare at him right back.
Kids!
"Anything on my face?"
"No, Sir, just putting your face on the image I had of you."
I rolled my eyes. They were in a competition to make the other one uncomfortable first.
"So, you had an image of me."
"Of course, Dave used to talk about a lot."
"Used to?"
"Yeah, then we both had this huge projects to finish and we had better things to focus on."
"Better things?"
"Yes, our studies and meetings were clashing. So our talks shifted to productive stuff. Are you okay, Sir? You should sit by the shade; you are getting burned."
"Excuse me!"
"You are getting sun-burned, you look red, Sir."
It was nice meeting you Jason, you were a nice fellow. I would make you a bouquet for your funeral.
"I am fine, thank you." Robbie gave a tight smile. "So, how well do I fit the image?"
"Quite well, Sir. I mean I had no idea he was talking about you. So, image barely changed. Actually, I think it was on his birthday that I kind of really got to know you, wasn't it, honey?"
Jesus! I hoped Robbie did not bring his revolver.
Jason what the heck were you doing?
Honey???!!! Honey!!! Jason hated that word and he was using it on me in front of Robbie! I did not know he was suicidal.
"...he kind of had other plans but he cancelled it the last minute. So, we spent his birthday in our dorms. Just him and I. It was amazing. Now I am sitting in front of you! Small world, huh?"
Okay, that was it.
"You guys know that 'he' is sitting right here, right?" I chuckled trying to ease the escalating situation.
