No one's child

Rosalyn was sitting down at the airport, waiting for her flight. Caroline was making some calls, in a language that the young girl couldn't understand.
But there was something clear, Rosalyn was alone, but never felt so free.

-So you came back, huh? Wanna hear another history?

Rosalyn went back to the cell where his father and sister were locked, only to find out that her sister was already sleeping, and her father was pacing around, distressed.

-No, I don't, and I feel like you know the real reason I'm here.

-Well, I don't. I'm locked, and far away for me to hear anything.

-It turns out that your beloved wife, Melissa Dawson, it's also a syphoner, she survived the merge. We've been lied, Kai. And now, in a quick turn of events, I'm flying away from America, I'll help Caroline with finding a way to avoid the merge.

-That's really fun Rosalyn, you think that I would believe you?

-Oh, no, that would be even funnier. Because while you try to escape to perform the merge, I will be so damn far away that you won't be able to find me.

There was a silence for a few seconds, where Kai stood there, in silence, trying to find some indication that she was lying. But there was only silence.

-You're kidding, right?

Rosalyn remained in silence, until Kai seemed to realize the seriousness of it.

-No, you can't do it, I won't allow it... You're my child! I named you!

-No, you didn't. You said it was my mother's choice. As for your last name, I renounce to it, so no curse, no summoning spell can befall me by a name that it's not mine...

Realizing what Rosalyn was doing, Kai became desperate.

-Don't finish that sentence! -he tried to interrupt.

The green-eyed girl simply didn't hear him

-I renounce to your blood and the name you gave me.

Kai tried to reach her daughter, or who used to be her daughter, but he couldn't.

-Someone seems happy -Caroline said looking at the teenager.

-I did a cloaking spell. No spell performed by Kai's family would find me. And no link can be made between us. -she explained.

-So that means you're impossible to find?

-I could say so. Now I'm not a Parker anymore.

-But you could be a Saltzman, or a Forbes, and who knows, maybe not a Parker, but a Park. But in the future. Go slow.

-I hope so. I first have to know if we can survive through distance.

-Chicago flight travelers, please approach gate 5B.

-I guess that's our call.

Caroline looked around while walking to the gate, and then she looked behind Rosalyn, smiling. However, the tall girl didn't realize about it, not until the vampire stopped her.

-So... About the distance thing... It might not be a problem.

-What?

Before Caroline could answer something, Rosalyn turned around to look at the older woman, only to see Penelope at the distance.

-What the...

Before she could finish the sentence, Penelope started to run, with two suitcases in hand. Rosalyn was too dumbfounded to say anything else, so she waited. The short-haired girl got to her girlfriend, and hugged her.

-What are you doing here?

-I'll go with you -Penelope answered smiling widely.

-What? No, Penelope, I don't want you to leave anything because of me.

-It was my last year of schooling, I spoke with Alaric. Plus, I'm not just doing it for you, I want to see the world, all of it, and I thought this might be a good time to do so. The fact that you and I are going to be together traveling, and that I would get to do some great stuff only ads it more thrill.

-So your parents are alright?

-Yep, I spoke with them, they told me it was fine, that their coven wouldn't find me, which was great for their paranoia. I have every permission I could get.

-What about the passport and all that stuff?

-My parents and I went on vacation once, not too long ago, and I have everything fine, everything is fine, stop worrying.

Rosalyn looked at Caroline, waiting for her to say that it was a lie, but she just smiled.

-Please tell me I get to sit with you for the whole flight.

-I can switch places with Penelope, if she wants to.

-Last call for Chicago flight travelers, please approach gate 5B.

-Come on, let's go, we don't want to lose our flight. -Rosalyn said excitedly.

Neither Rosalyn or Penelope knew what the flight was going to bring them, they weren't even sure of what would happen the next day. But one thing was sure, they both had each other. And if they had each other, they felt like everything would be alright. Because once the demon meets the devil, they can do nothing but try even the impossible.

Aaaaand that's a wrap, I'm gonna get a little emotional here, feel free to skip this. Thanks for all your comments, votes, even reads. You don't know how much it all meant to me. When I started writing it, it was just a "what if" that turned into a story, and seeing how much it grew, and how everyone loved it... It fucking amazes me. I hope that everyone enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. And, thanks to everyone who joined me in this adventure. From those who've been here since the first chapter, to those who joined at the end.

With that being said, see ya next book.
