It was Sunday in the afternoon, and Rosalyn had decided to finally get her side of the room decorated. She didn't have too much, there were only a few photographs, purple fairy lights, a few pennants two dark green cushions, and her own set of sheets and blankets.
-Hey Parker, planned to move out for so long?
-Nah, my mom has always been like... Protective? I don't know how to call it honestly -Rosalyn said while getting the other sheets from her bed- Like every other mother, I guess. You know? Like, making sure I have always my own things, she and Dominic always worked hard for that.
-So you now know that, if you have to go away, you already have everything? -Jasmine asked confused.
-Kinda.
-Awesome.
Jasmine got into Rosalyn's side of the room, looking at the few things she had for decoration.
-So, Nets fan, huh?
-Yeah, and their women team, The Liberty's, they're great. It's my dream to get to play with them. And, I used to play at my old school, this year they started with scouting universities, it was supposed to be my year.
-Oh, so we have a superstar here, where had you planned to go?
-I don't know, probably some new York university. My mom thinks I can make it to Columbia with a scholarship for basketball or not, so she's been rooting for me to go there. -she explained, standing in her bed, trying to hang the pennants she had- I think that the Brooklyn College can be fine for me.
-Why you settle down for Brooklyn College when you can go to freaking Columbia?
-It's closer to home, and I'm not that good at basketball, or my grades aren't that good. Plus, I have a GPA of three-point... Forty-something? -the syphoner scrunched her nose, thinking- Forty-six I think, I don't remember. I won't be qualified for a scholarship for Columbia.
Rosalyn simply shrugged, and then looked at her pennants. One from the nets, another from the Liberty, and one from the Brooklyn Bulldogs.
-Call me crazy, but I have the feeling that you have another reason why you want to go there.
-Do you mind if I hang the lights? I mean, maybe you have photophobia or something like that. -Was all that Rosalyn gave as an answer.
Jasmine shook her head, and gave her the lights in her suitcase.
-Dominic, my mother's boyfriend, he's kinda like his husband by now, he went there.
Rosalyn didn't speak for a few minutes, concentrated on the lights, and Jasmine didn't force her to speak, just waited for her to keep going.
-His family went there since 1930, and before, they went to Hunter's college branch in Brooklyn, which was a female college back then, and the City College of New York. So, they come from a long history with that college, even if Dominic later ended up being the owner of a cafeteria.
