I was sat in the back seat of Noah's car with Zoé as he and Leo chat away up front. I was trying to get my head around things, and the only reasonable thing I thought to do was call Shawn and organise something or other.
....All I need is a little love in my life....
The music on the radio was darn right. All I need is love in my life, love that's true love and not just friendship love. I took my phone out of my back pocket and the screen instantly turned on as I held it out in front of me. The photo of my lock screen was of course a photo with Shawn, Leo, Noah, Aria and I at the beach. I sighed as I looked at Shawn and I saw Leo sneak a look at me in the rear view mirror.
I placed my thumb on the home button which unlocked the phone to uncover my home screen. My home screen had a photo of me in my footy uniform standing next to Shawn in his ice hockey uniform.
He had his arm wrapped around my shoulder, pulling me closer to him. We were both smiling brightly at the camera, the memories so vivid, it was the day I won my rugby game and scored three of the winning goals. Shawn has won his ice hockey game and scored the winning shot.
"Dells stop hesitating, just call him." Noah said, very close to running out of patience.
"I will, I will." I assured them as I tapped on the phone app. I scrolled down through my contacts until I found the letter S which had Shawn's number saved under it.
I clicked on his profile, and then the phone button. The little thing asking whether I wanted to call his home phone number or work number popped up. They were both the same but I tapped on work anyway. My heart flipped in circles as the ringing sound began playing.
Why was I nervous? I'd done this so many times before, only this time it was different. This time I'd be a hundred and ten percent sure that I liked him and only him. Kissing Clayton was a one time thing that wasn't going to happen on a regular basis.
"Lané?" Shawn asked into the phone. The boys in front instantly went quiet and Noah stopped the car.
"H-hey!" I stammered nervously as Noah and Leo turned to face me from the front. Leo gave me a hand movement as if telling me to keep talking.
"What's up?" He asked causally.
"Uh nothing much." I replied. Smooth, real smooth Delané."
"Cool. Actually I have something I need to tell you, Lané." He suddenly said out of nowhere, excitement in his voice.
"Camila's decided to come up for your birthday tomorrow, and for thanksgiving and Christmas, but I mean isn't this great!" Shawn exclaimed through the phone.
By this time I had the phone on speaker so the boys could here. They were looking at me with sympathetic faces.
"She's actually going to be staying at my house in the guest room so that gives you plenty of time to catch up with her! I'm so excited!" Shawn says and I shake my head with a frown. The boys do the exact same.
"Oh really, well you see it's fine, I mean I don't exactly have enough time to catch up with Canola, and tomorrow night I was just meant to catch up with my close friends." I say harshly. Leo and Noah look at each other in shock at my words.
"Whoops did I say Canola (as in Canola oil), sorry I meant to say Camila. It doesn't matter though they mean the same thing, their oily and you can never really wipe them away." I said sweetly. Noah and Leo were chuckling and whispering 'good one' to me while shooting thumbs ups.
"Lané what are you on about?" Shawn's asked in a stern tone.
"Camila. She's not invited tomorrow. Nor is she invited to step even one foot in my house." I say bluntly before hanging up the phone.
"Way to go Dells!" The boys cheer.
"You totally just protected your mans from that shallow, man stealing wannabe!" Leo cheered while giving me a high five.
"He's definitely going to know that you like him now!" Noah said in success.
"- Wait what?" I screeched in shock.
"Well, yeah." Noah shrugged.
I wasn't ready for this. Not this, definitely not right now. Yes I liked him but I wasn't ready for him to know just yet. Not now.
