"Bitch say what?" Mina asked nearly instantly. Everyone else was to shocked to even respond.
"I've been undercover as a UA student for three years? Trying to find the traitor?" Kaminari said again, feeling much more unsure of himself.
He had known that if any of his classmates were to find out, they'd all be angry with him. It was scenario he loathed to think about, but now it was a reality.
"Wait, then how fucking old are you?" Bakugou asked, looking just slightly disgusted with his 'friend'. He hated being lied to, just ask Izuku.
"Huh? Why wou- I didn't lie about that! I'm seventeen, I promise!" Kaminari explained quickly. Did they think he was some old person now? He was just a little self conscious now, did he look that old?
"I'm so confused." Kirishima spoke up, not even looking at Kaminari.
"Look, I know it's hard to understand, but I wanted to tell you guys, so many times, but I couldn't. I would have lost the job and been kicked out. I wasn't willing to risk it. UA could have blackballed me from every other hero academy and I would have been screwed." He quickly explained, trying to make his friends understand where he was coming from.
"Did you know anything about this, Deku?" Bakugou asked, turning to the green haired boy. Just from his expression, Bakugou had his answer.
"N-no. I only knew that he was lying about his intelligence and quirk ability." Izuku said, looking at the floor with great fascination.
He was hurt. He knew he had no reason or right to be, but he was. He thought maybe, just maybe, he deserved to know. Even if he didn't, he knew all of Kaminari's other secrets, why couldn't he have known the reason? Why couldn't Kaminari trust him?
Kaminari saw the look on his face. He knew that his 'fake' boyfriend was upset with his secrets. He hated being the reason the smile was gone from his face. He'd gotten so used to it over the course of the week, it just felt wrong for it to be missing.
"Bunny, trust me, if I wanted to tell them," He said, walking towards Izuku and pointing behind him at their classmates, "then you have no idea how badly I wanted to tell you. It was just too risky. Not only could I have been kicked out, but it could have risked your spot to. I'd never want to be the reason you couldn't fulfill your dream of becoming a hero." He said gently, knowing that all of their classmates where watching very carefully. A certain duel haired boy's anger was only being fueled at the sight.
Izuku's head and heart ached. At this point in their fake relationship, he couldn't tell what was real. He didn't know what Kaminari meant or actually felt. He couldn't tell it from the fake show he put on for their class.
"Okay." He mumbled, still not feeling any better.
Kaminari sighed, knowing that he wasn't going to be able to fix this as easy as he had first hoped. He turned back to his class. "If you guys have any more questions, I'll gladly answer them," he paused for a second as the hopeful faces of his classmates stared back, "tomorrow." He finished.
There were a few groans from the less patient students, but a few, like Kirishima and Yaoyorozu, understood that he was probably just prioritizing his own relationship, which they could both easily understand. If they were in his shoes, they would want to talk to their significant others before the rest of their class.
Kaminari grabbed Izuku's wrist and pulled in from the common room and all the way up to his own dorm. Izuku didn't fight it, just let the taller boy lead him to the dorm. Kaminari nudged him to sit on the bed, and then sat a foot or so in front of him.
"What's wrong bunny?" He asked.
Even when they were still alone he used that nickname, which confused Izuku even more. They weren't in front of anyone. They didn't need to keep up the act. So why did he?
"Nothing." He responded in a quiet voice.
Kaminari ran his hand through Izuku's hair, making him look up in the process. "C'mon, I know you better than that by now. What's wrong?"
Izuku sighed, knowing there wasn't a lot of options for him now. He could lie, but he had never been good at that.
"It's just- I don't- Why didn't you tell me? Even after I found out about everything else?" He finally asked, the curiosity and some other feeling, probably hurt or maybe even jealousy, becoming to much for him.
Kaminari just looked at him for a few seconds. "That's- that's why you're mad?" He asked.
"I'm not mad! I'm just... wondering." Izuku defended. He really wasn't mad.
"Bunny, I didn't tell you I was a spy for UA, for similar reasons that you never told me about One For All." Kaminari explained, making Izuku drop his jaw.
When he didn't recover, Kaminari laughed lightly while using one finger to close his mouth for him. "Yes, bunny. I know about your quirk. It was one of the first things I was told about when I took the job. You were a top priority these past few years."
Izuku was shocked once again. "Me? I was a priority?" He asked, confused why anyone would think he was worth it.
Kaminari gave him a 'seriously?' type of look. "You were given All Might's quirk and are basically destined to become the next symbol of peace, of course you safety was a top priority."
"O-oh, yeah I guess that makes sense." Izuku said sheepishly. They weren't protecting him, they were protecting his quirk, which made infinitely more sense to the self conscious boy.
"Wait, how is that secret even similar to yours?" Izuku asked, not trying to be rude, but he was just genuinely confused how the other boy was comparing them.
"The more people that know about One For All, the more dangerous it is for them and you. If the traitor would have found out about me, I could have been targeted and potentially dead." Kaminari explained.
The casual way he said it, worried Izuku. It was like he had accepted that he could easily die while doing this 'job'.
Izuku wasn't planning on letting that happen anytime soon. What kind of hero would he be if he couldn't protect the people he loved and cared about?
