Izuku wasn't sure how long he was positioned there, leaning against his door with his legs folded up to him, tears streaming down his face. It didn't matter how long it had been, he wasn't planning on going anywhere anytime soon, so what did it matter?

What did any of it matter now?

He felt like he was slowly falling into a black, bottomless hole. No matter how hard he tried to grip the sides, or call out for help, nothing happened and he just kept falling. He could only wait until he hit rock bottom.

It was only Friday, which meant Izuku had a full two days to lock himself away in his room and figure out how he was going to pretend to be okay.

And that's what he did.

He didn't leave for any reason. No one saw him the whole weekend, and only caught small glimpses of Kaminari. They all just thought they were both holed up in one of their dorms, being grossly affectionate. It wouldn't be the first time they weren't seen for long periods of time.

But on Sunday night, around two a.m., Izuku finally plucked up the courage to leave his room. He only left because he figured everyone would be asleep, seeing as it was so late and there was school that morning.

He was wrong.

He made it all the way to the kitchen, figuring he should at least drink some water, when someone was already there. They noticed him before he could slip away, back up the stairs.

"Midoriya? Why're you up so late?" Mina asked, holding a steaming mug in one hand and her phone in the other.

"I could ask you the same thing." He said, deciding he didn't even care anymore and reaching for a glass so he could get water.

"I couldn't sleep, so I got some tea. What's your excuse?" She shot back. She wasn't fond of his attitude, but she knew that something had to have happen to make him act like that. She just had to be a friend, and figure it out.

"Can't sleep." He said back, turning the tap on and filling his cup with water.

That was when she finally took a good look at him. He was still in his white shirt and dress pants that were part of their uniform. Had he not changed since Friday? His hair was pushed up in all different directions, even worse than usual, and he had some dark bags under his eyes, resembling their homeroom teacher.

"What happened?" She asked him, her voice soft and caring.

Izuku wasn't prepared for it. He wasn't prepared for someone to actually care. He had thought he'd be able to deal with it, but he hadn't thought it through completely.

He took a shaky breath and almost dropped his glass. He looked up, making eye contact, letting her see how close he was to breaking, and said, "We broke up."

Mina's eyes widened a fraction at the news. She hadn't even thought of that being the problem. They had such a good relationship! It just goes to show that even if someone seems fine, behind closed doors everything could be different.

She grabbed his water and put it to the side, pulling the distressed boy into a long over due hug. "Why?" She asked, not knowing if he'd actually answer, and if he didn't, she wouldn't pry.

"C-can I tell you the truth?" He asked, holding on to her, just needing some sort of physical contact after the long weekend.

"Of course."

"W-we weren't really dating." He said, causing Mina to narrow her eyes in confusion. "I had been running from Uraraka one day and hid in his room. We ended up talking and I complained that her and Todoroki wouldn't leave me alone, so he said we should fake date, to make them back off a bit. Th-that's when we told everyone we were dating. We were just friends, and then we started hanging out and doing couple stuff and- I don't know- I guess I just- I started to fall for him. I knew that if I had feelings for him, we couldn't just keep faking our relationship, I knew I had to tell him or break it off. I ended up confessing, and well, you can probably tell how well that went." He explained, tears still falling from his green eyes.

Mina was in shock. She had no idea it was fake. She couldn't believe that it was actually just acting. Like actually, she didn't believe it. Over the course of the week, she had talked to Kaminari about their relationship. Some of the stuff he said, they way he'd describe how he felt, there was no way he was just putting on a show. He might have been an amazing actor, but no one was that amazing. The way he talked about Izuku, it was like watching a blind person suddenly being able to see for the first time. You couldn't just fake that.

She knew there was something more to it, and she already had a good idea of what. She just needed to knock some sense into him. She'd do it tomorrow after school, right now she needed to help Izuku.

"When was the last time you slept?" She asked him after a few seconds of silence between them.

"Like at all? I've probably gotten three hours since Thursday night." He said truthfully. He didn't have it in him to lie. He was too exhausted.

"C'mon, let's get you to bed then." She said, trying to pull him back upstairs to his dorm.

"What's the point? I won't be able to sleep." He argued.

"Well you're going to damn well try." She said, winning the small battle of tug-a-war and getting him up the stairs and into his dorm.

She brought him to his bed and made him sit down. Then she went over to his dresser and found him something clean to put on, he just had to get out of school clothes. She rummaged around, before finding a hoodie she knew belonged to Kaminari. She figured it was his best bet and threw it at him, along with a pair of pajama pants.

He took the clothes and went into his bathroom to change. He had everything on before he noticed what top she'd given him. It was a mustard yellow hoodie that said 'happy' on it in black block letters. Kaminari had left it there after helping him with homework one night. He had forgotten to give it back.

It was to big on him, swallowing him up with all the extra fabric. his hands were lost in the sleeves as he brought them up to his face and inhaled.

It still smelt like him.

He flipped the hood up and made his way out of the bathroom, fatigue hitting him suddenly. Mina was standing in the middle of his room, typing away on her phone. She looked up when she heard the door open. She sent him a sad smile that he couldn't return.

He crawled into his bed and cocooned himself in his comforter. He just wanted to sleep and forget for a while. He sat back up, remembering he needed to set an alarm for school in a few hours, but was stopped by Mina.

"Don't bother, I'll come wake you up tomorrow for school. I'll try to find you a clean uniform too." She said to him. He tiredly nodded, not caring anymore.

"Goodnight Midoriya." She said, gently shutting his door as she left.

She checked her phone, realizing that it was now nearly three in the morning. "Good thing the tea didn't work. I've got stuff to do."
