The room was deadly silent as Christine turned to face the Phantom, tears welling in her eyes.

"You have forced me to do things against my will for too long. Tonight, I will not succumb to your command."

"You dare defy your master, your angel of music?" The Phantom demanded, breathing heavily in rage.

"No angel would hide behind that mask and commit horrible actions such as taking someone else's life." Christine stood her ground. All of her emotions that she had kept bottled up were fueling her confidence to stand up to the Phantom.

The Phantom turned away from Christine, clutching his head, his body trembling in anger. Suddenly, he straightened up and looked at the teenagers who were still unable to move from where they stood.

"This is all their fault! If they hadn't come here, these rebellious thoughts would have never influenced you!"

She trembled as the power in his voice rippled through her body. The young super heroes definitely felt that as well. She hastily came around to face the Phantom and placed one hand on his unmasked cheek causing him to stiffen. His eyes were distraught but softened at her touch, she had not made physical contact with him willingly since she was little.

"Its not like that, at all." She said trying her best to calm him with her voice, not wanting him to lash out again and hurt someone. "I was planning on leaving no matter the situation."

And with that said, she pulled off the Phantom's mask with her other hand, catching a glimpse of his true face. She took a step back in shock as the Phantom cried out and crumpled to the floor covering his face. She had assumed he used the mask to hide his identity, not to hide a deformity.

"Curse You!" Picking up the mask the Christine had not even noticed that she dropped, the Phantom scrambled across the stage to reach the trapdoor where they had come from, and was gone.

Christine let go of the breath she didn't even realize she was holding and quickly adverted her attention to the still stuck super heroes.

"You must be quick to escape! There is no telling when he will decide to come back for us!" After she said that the young heroes could move again.

"Robin!" the one in yellow cried out and was by his side in an instant. The boy with markings on his arms approached Christine with concern written on his face.
