Calhoun House
Mature oak trees create a natural canopy on a two lane road filled with a variety of flowers and shrubs leading to an exclusive residential community within a premier golf country club. Kelsea followed the address he gave her and her car gps took her to this part of their small town she never have been and never imagined could existed. She read about these multi-million homes in home magazines but seeing them right before her eyes is a whole different story.
These massive homes were at least twice if not thrice of the house she shared with her parents and sister. Their front lawn was filled with manicured gardens filled with more mature trees and a variety of plants. Most have iron gates, wooden fence and paved driveways that lead to drop off roundabouts and large garages that could fit three or more cars and even small boats. Some even have water features, fountains and garden lights that started to illuminate as dusk is slowly approaching in that late afternoon. Her eyes savored each house design and the lavish lifestyle they represent fitting only the likes of a millionaire.
She continued driving through a cul-de-sac, passing by one of the community amenities that looks more like a hotel resort and ended parking closed to a golf club where there were a handful more of these multi-million homes spaced far apart from each other that you can built at least a good sized house or two in between. She arrived to one of the older but larger homes that has a stairway that leads to the main entrance door located on a second floor.
She checked his last message that read:
Sorry if I can't meet you by the gate, just come in when you arrived. Viola will be there to assist you. I'll see you then.
Viola? As she gazed as the main entrance door opened and an elderly woman, whom she guessed is in her 50s smiled and walked down the staircase with a purse clutch in her arms, smiling at her. Kelsea smiled back but looking puzzled wondering who could she be. Is she his mom? She nervously thought.
"Hi, Ms. Kelsea. I'm Viola, their housekeeper. Mr. Briggs asked me to show you where the study is, that's where he's waiting for you." She greeted her.
"Hi, Mrs. Viola. It's nice to meet you. I hope I didn't kept you waiting for me." She greeted back.
"No, I don't mind at all. I'm glad his girlfriend is here to visit him. I feel bad for leaving him alone in his condition but I have to go home. I hope he feels better soon. I did prepare a nice dinner for both of you, as there's no one else in the house right now." The housekeeper explained.
"Uhm, Mrs. Viola, he might have misspoken, we're just friends from.. work. I just needed to get a book from him." She quickly replied back.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, what I mean is a female friend. Although he did say something like a girlfriend. Anyway, I don't want to keep him waiting and it's getting late for me. I'll point you to the direction of the study." Viola exclaimed as they went up the staircase and a grand foyer with high ceiling greeted them.
Rich is an understatement. This house is just full of grandeur and high class. I guess he came from a well of family though they should have probably raised him much better. She uttered to herself as she marveled at the beautiful architecture and interior of the mansion that belong to his family.
The great room that serves as the main family room has an 11 ft. coffered tray ceiling with a custom built mantle piece for the fireplace. Built in bookcase and cabinets were placed next to the fireplace. Large multi panel french doors with fixed glass windows above filled the room with the natural light as the sun is about to set.
The formal dining room that can seat at least 12 has another fireplace and a four seater eat in counter separates it from the biggest kitchen she has seen yet. The kitchen was filled with custom built cabinets, double ovens, all stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a butler's pantry with a wine storage. An island counter finished the look.
